  1. Look on the internet or the phone book for a wildlife rehabber in your area. Someone who knows what they’re doing.

you should take them to a vet and they will take care of them. with not having any expierence in hand feeding babies, they could die in your care.

  3. You are not their moma bird and she flew away because the nest was disturbed. They will probably die because who really knows what they need to eat. I did have limited sucess in placing baby birds in other nests but once they pick up human smell it’s not likely they will be cared for. Call local services and see what they have to say, but probably nothing can be done. You didn’t say what kind they are? In the least, thanks for trying to help, see what you can do and good luck.

Ok once again, birds have a bad sense of smell so that old wives tale if you touch a bird it;s mom won’t take it back is a myth. I congratulate you on taking the proper action to start off, usually baby birds simply need to be placed back in the nest, if the parents aren’t back within 3 hours call your closest wildlife rehab center, if you aren’t sure where it is call a vet / local humane society and ask or look on this site http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.htm . Most wild birds are federally protected and you could get in trouble if you try and raise them yourself not to mention they need special care and are best left in the hands of licensed professionals. Then educate your cousin on the issue… he shouldn’t be harming any wildlife, for their sake and for his ( the fines for disturbing/ destroying/ killing a protected species are quite high)

Contact a zoo, vet, or animal rehab center to be
put in touch with someone who is authorized to care for
injured/orphaned wild birds. Until you can get it to that
person, keep it WARM and hydrated; dry cat food that has
been softened with warm water is a good temporary diet
    – be sure it is SOFT.
