as scared as i am to hand feed the babies there is another problem. the parents have been feeding the baby birds before i can even get to them so i cant hand feed the babies. So what do i do? i really want these new baby birds to grow up well and be nice and tame. unlike my cockatiels now who bite u even if u try to get close ( even out of the cage )
the olders were mean even before she had babies and sometimes it seems the babies are lookin like they want to bite me too.
take them out of the cage and keep them in a brooder (a aquarium or something with a heating pad underneath) . Then you can feed them and the parents won’t bother you

More: If the babies are older than 3 weeks than they will be extremely hard to handfeed because they have already established themselves as birds and your birds as their parents.
I have to do this with every new parrot that comes into my home. they’re all nervous at the new sites, sounds, and surroundings. they need time to adjust.

When I bought my bird, the lady said she let the mother take care of the babies for 3 weeks(so the mom can get used to it) then she will pull them and hand feed them out, it’s good for the mom. Her breeder birds are not tame eithor, she has to put a sock it the hole where the birds come in and out and then she will grab the babies and hand feed them till they are ready to go to a new home.
My point is that is it probibly good for you to leave the babies in for a few weeks and then hand feed them, they will still become very tame and people friendly. Just buy baby bird fomula from your pet store and use that it is not hard at all so don’t stress.
Good luck!!

i have had to hand feed parrots in the past and to be honest it was a pain in the neck.
me personally i let the parents raise the youngsters themselves and then once i see them out of the nest i catch them and bring them inside in a cage and let them get used to it, and used to my hand being in the cage to give them feed and water and then to handle them.
