I have finches, I feed them the black sunflower seeds, they did not seem to like the thistle I put out either.

My Goldfinches love the thistle feeder, but I must keep it full so they don’t fight over the available perch space. The House Finches seem to prefer the Oil Sunflower seed, from the ground or a ground level feeder. They rarely feed at the big hanging feeder, where I put the mixed seed, and I have never seen them at the thistle feeder.

Don’t give up hope.
We moved into our house two years ago and hung feeders..
No birds..no bird the second year..this year all kinds of birds
and we live on a busy street.
Put a bird bath near the feeders.
If you provide they will come.
