Well this is the story… you can take care of it etc…
Since you already took it its mother wont take it back because once youve touched it the mother wont come and take the bird back. Thats how it is. You were better off leaving it there…..
Dont touch it often because it could carry disease…
Maybe call a vet or just buy some 99 cent store bird seeds..=]
And make a little box for it to live then get rid of it somehow.

I would definitely avoid touching it. Birds are wild animals and also can carry diseases. I’d be very careful seeing as it is probably very scared and you could cause it to hurt you or itself by trying to get away. What type of bird is it? Birds typically eat seeds, fruits, and insects. I’d call a local wildlife preserve and see if they have any ideas. In our area, there’s a place called River Bend that takes in wild animals and nurse them back to help before releasing them back to the wild.

I would contact your local humane society and see if they will take it. Unless you are a trained rehabber it could be dangerous to both you and the bird to try and take care of it yourself. As harmless as it seems it’s still a wild animal.

It isn’t injured. It is a fledgling. They are learning how to fly and feed themselves. Mom was probably nearby waiting for you to leave.
Call a wildlife rehab place tonight. They can tell you were to take it and what to do for the night. Don’t try to feed it unless told to by an expert. Next time, unless it is really visibly hurt, it is best to leave them alone.

leave it alone…you might get killed if you touch it…

You need to surrender the bird to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. All native (non-introduced) wild birds in the US are protected by law, and you can not have one unless you have the proper permits. A licensed wildlife rehabilitator will have the permits and the knowledge and resources to feed and care for the injured bird.
If the rehabilitator looks at the bird, and it turns out it is not a native species (if it is something not protected by law, like a European Starling or an English House Sparrow, for example), the rehabber will still be able to help you, by giving you the proper information on how to feed it and what to do for its injuries.
