I would think kinda, kinda not. Bread congests me if i eat too much of it. It could happen to the birds to. But i imagine it’s healthier than eating worms! LOL
You’ll find that most parks and ponds where people feed the ducks have signs that say if you’re going to feed them anything, make it wholegrain bread. The white stuff isn’t good for them. So while it may be ideal to have a birdfeeder with seeds meant especially for birds or nothing at all and let them fend for themselves, the only kind of bread you should really give them is brown.
At a local nature park there are signs everyware that say not to feed the ducks and geese bread or rolls.
This guy here is a bird watcher and he says;
“3. Feeding birds lots of stale bread. The birds may seem to love your stale bread, but bread to a hungry bird is like popcorn is to a hungry human: Lots of filler, but no real nutritional value. Bread also attracts mostly starlings and house sparrows. Solution: Offer apples, oranges, meat scraps, rendered suet, mealworms, or other nutritional foods instead.” http://www.birdwatchersdigest.com/site/backyard_birds/top_ten/bill_top_10_wi_mis.aspx
But then again what my neighbor does is his or her business as long as it does not endanger my family, so . . .
Bread, contrary to popular belief is extremely bad for birds. Bread has no nutritional value for humans or birds. The reason why they might be eating it is, the natural food in your area might be low and they have resorted to the bread. Talk to your neighbor and see if she will stop.
Our neighbor does the same thing. It attracts the skunks — lucky though, we haven’t seen rats.
Overall, bread is not good for birds, she’d be doing them a healthful favor by switching to bird seed, suit, and fruits.
.
hmmmmmmmm . . . . . what do YOU feed them?
The breeder I bought my macaw from told me this.
