Although I deeply appreciate your desire to help the bird, please take it to a wildlife rehabilitator. If you cannot find one, call a local vet or the animal shelter, as they should have contact information. Do you know how to wrap a broken wing so it will heal properly? Wildlife rehabbers help with this too.

Call a wildlife rehabber ASAP. I am not sure how long you have had it but just to let you know a birds wing can be completely healed within 2 weeks. You can contact a rehabber by going to this site:

Temporarily you can feed it meal worms or wax worms. They can be bought at a local pet or reptile store. If you go that rout get it to a rehabber quickly Tanagers can and will eat you out of house and home.

You need to get this bird to a wildlife rehab in your area where they can get it the proper care and diet and eventually release it back into the wild. It is nice of you to try and help this injured bird, but it’s best chance of survival is at a rehab, also it is illegal for you to have or handle this bird according to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
