When I added a nesting box (tissue box with shredded paper) and added the egg carefully with a glove on, my bird didn’t seem to go near it or in it. So, i took it back out and put the egg back where it was in the first place on the bottom of the cage in the corner.
Will my female parakeet still care for it?
Well, probably not because when a bird has an egg and something touches it that’s not supposed to, the female is ,almost all the time, to scared to go back and care for the egg
I own 2 healthy parakeets! :^)

well im sorry to tell you this, but chances are she will not bother looking at it anymore, it is better to have a actual bird nest so that she could be able to lay her eggs in there. try looking for something she can use such as this nest http://www.petsandcages.bigcartel.com/product/parakeet-nibbling-nest
