Help!!! i have a nest freshly build, under my deck. i hate to touch it really but is on top of my Jacuzzi .?

the nest is empty at this time, and would like to keep it under the deck for the sake of the hardworking mother bird and her future chicks, but under my Jacuzzi i can’t have it, so im thinking of moving it 3 feet away, same height. The new under the deck don’t have same support plank as where the nest is, if i place a box and make wide hole would it work? guess it would have to be weatherproof maybe wooded box? i need to know what to do before she give birth, any suggestion will help!

chances are that if you move it, she will sense you didn’t want her there and may feel uncomfortable, and decide to take her babies else were. If you absolutely have to you should buy no-scent soap, (it is the kind you would buy before hunting….) and use something else, not your hands to move it, and keep it very close to where it was.

But summer is starting…do you really need to use your hot-tub? She will only be there for a few weeks until the babies hatch….then you can clean up the nest site, and use it in your garden, or on your back porch and see if another bird would like to use it. It seems like she just wanted to give you an Earth-Day present :D

Move the nest if you must but I doubt that she will use it. She will not except a box if she didn’t use one here as they nest in a box of elsewhere and not either/or. You likely have a Carolina wren nesting.

  4. I think your idea will work just fine. And my heart feels light after reading your question and how you plan to fix the problem instead of eliminating it . It is so refreshing. If she does not use it after you are done that is ok. You tried. many birds lose their nests to strong winds and other things and are forced to find old place to lay eggs or build new nest if time. I hope it works out. :)
