Ok, so I have a “male” bird and a female, the “male” is about 2 years old, and the female is only a few months old. He looked sooo much like a male, according to the internet and the pet shop we bought him from.
He was acting really weird, puffed up on the bottom of the cage, (which isn’t very big – I don’t have room for a nesting box) so I took him out, and an egg just like… fell out! He only laid one egg and is showing no interest in it.
What should I do? Take it away [It's NOT fertilized]? Is there anything I should do for him? Or… her.
Thank you so much, this is really weird =]
I shoulda made my question more obvious: what do I do?!
Take the eggs away?! Or leave them?
Should I feed her anything special?
Well, it is quite oxvious you have a female bird laying eggs. I know what the pet store and books told you, but unless you had a DNA test done, you cannot sex a bird- OR, if they lay an egg, that’s a no brainer.
Hope i helped good luck!

OMG!!!!!
well as you now know its a girl.It will probably lay a few more eggs over the next coming days.I would take the egg out in a week as this gives her time to lay her other eggs.If you find she keeps on doing this get her some calcium supplements from your pet store. No other special care is needed at this point.
Hope i helped good luck!

OMG that egg sure was a surprise!
wow….i would’a been so shocked
obviously the bird is a female.
well…I think relying on the pet shop and the internet proved to be a wrong idea…
so best bet is to visit a vet for advice. They know best…better than the internet
better than pet shop…after all these ppl didnt study the pets and get a degree.
Just to be on the safe side I highly suggest visiting a vet, they can tell you what to do with the eggs. OMG….what if they hatch…then you’d have little chirping birdies…wud be soooo cuuuute!!!
Hope i helped good luck!

Leave the eggs until she tires of them. You can replace them with Dummy eggs if you prefer. If you are not sure if the eggs are fertile and you do not want babies you can shake the eggs to make the yolk break and prevent the egg hatching. This is known as addling. If you remove the egg she will lay more to replace them .
Yes I can imagine your surprise. I have a 9 year old Patagonian conure who laid her first egg at age 7. I have a friend whose cherry head conure laid her first egg at 17 years.—-Yogi
PS make sure she gets extra calcium either in the form of liquid calcium (not sure but I think you can only get this from your vet) or scrape cuttlebone or mineral block over her food. Just scrape it with a spoon or table knife to a powder.

Well your male is a female. And need to leave the eggs until she gets bored with them and leaves them and does not lay on them anymore. Usually takes a few weeks to a month. If they start to go bad can replace them with fake ones that buy at pet store. She will not know difference. Also at this time she needs more calcium in diet. So more cuttle bone and crushed oyster shell (get at pet store) very important because egg laying can depleate the calcium quick and can cause many health problems even death. Also watch that she does not become egg bound. Good luck.
