I’ve read that styles of nesting boxes differ according to type of bird. Can anyone provide a link to a website that offers specific instructions in building one? I would like to place several pieces in my garden.

What you say about using specific designs for certain birds is true. and i do not see any fantail houses on the web off hand but these guys might help you:

It’s possible that what you will have to do is determine what type of nest it will want based on the fantail’s similarity to some other species. I mean, follow a plan meant for a similar bird.
Also, besides houses, sometimes folks like to make beneficial habitat; like food sources or camoflaging cover.
You can plant stuff that is a food source for the bird or plants that provide food for a food source. Also plants give habitat to food sources. and can give habitat to birds/places to hide and stay safe in the day.
one note about bird houses>do not use cedar wood. it can give baby birds brain damage from the fumes. it is the toxic fumes of cedar which give it the moth repelling abilities folks value when making linen chests.
