i want the birds to stop nesting on top of my fire alarms and dryer vents, however it must look good?

I do maintenance at an apartment complex and this has become a project, I tried building boxes uses finish trim pieces and 2 x 4′s, but these mud swallows are so persistent and protected so it has to be humane and like I said most importanly still look good.

You should use bug spray it makes birds go away

They get in there because it’s out of the weather…wash away their nest’s before they can finish them and lay egg’s….when they start a nest wash it away with a water hose.
