is it ok to look into my nestbox while my cockatiels are sitting on the eggs?there’s ALWAYS 1 of them in there

my cockatiels are 1 male and 1 female and because they never leave the nest box together since they started nesting, i don’t even know how many eggs they have laid and i didn’t do the candling test. the last time i checked was before nesting started and there were 3 eggs.
i heard that opening the nestbox while the bird is sitting on the eggs will cause them to get scared and break the eggs. is that true? i’m sorry but this is my first experience and i really want to make it right.
thank you

  1. You should have been checking when the eggs were laid. I number mine as they are laid so that any that go past the time, I know are not going to hatch and can remove them. Expect the male to be VERY protective of the nest! Good luck with your clutch.
