My female keeps flying in the tissue box nesting box i made for her and chews it up and throws the leftovers inside the box…Then she goes in for a few minutes…The male comes by and feeds her and this has been going on for about 3 days…I am not sure what is happening…Sometimes the male goes in the nesting box too…I dont know what that means either…When my bird comes out of the nesting box her vent has a small bump beneath it…Does that mean shes about to lay…Can someone please help me with all of these questions! Your help will be appreciated =)
your bird could be eggs bound, i say this because yes the small lump near vent is sign that she is carrying eggs and you said its been like this for three days….it only taks two days for keets to lay.if your bird is egg bound you can help her by applying olive oil to her vent.this will lubricate it and make it easier for her to pass.after few hours check and if still no egg try putting a WARM towell on her vent (not too hot) this will make certain muscles necessary for passing eggs work more effectively.loosening tight ones and making the laying easier and it may pass.BUT if comes the next day still no eggs you should take her in to a vet right away as it can be fatal.
Good Luck!!!!
