Ellu ppl. ^^ Okay I have 3 parakeets for 5 years now and i recently found out one of them was “pregant” and had 2 eggs but the other female bird broke them. So now I seperated them, but I still need a nest. I did think about buying one but i dont know. But I did put a box with newspaper sheds and some seeds in there. Do you think thats enough? What else could I do to make her comfortable? Im excited but scared at the same time.
my parakeet laid 2 eggs and has been in her nesting box all day(except for eating) . What should the father be doing ( that is if he is the father b/c i didnt actually see them mate)? Is he supposed to be in the nesting box ? b/c he keeps going in there!! does it sound like the eggs are fertile?
Someone please help me, a few days ago my sister and I noticed a mother sparrow has gotten killed due to our neighbor’s cat, ad we noticed that her nest had two eggs in it. We took them in, and we have placed them in a card board box. We have a heating lamp as well, and we have been turning the eggs every now and then. While turning the eggs last night, we noticed that there is some blood (or so we think) in the eggs. And the eggs aren’t cracked or anything, so I was just wondering if there’s any best way to check for signs of life for these precious babies, besides going in a dark room a taking a flash light how else can I be sure if there’s life? PLEASE someone help me, it would be much greatly appreciated thank you!!

my lovebirds layed 3 eggs in october, they never bothered with them. 23 days after the last egg was removed i took the eggs out of the nesting box. They were not fetilized. they layed another 2 eggs starting jan 5., but not in the nesting box(it was in the cage though). they are not going near them. I saw them mating(atleast thats what it looked like) about a week or 2 before the eggs arrived. whats going on?
i am pretty sure they are male and female. nevermind that i am almost sure i saw them mating, but they do feed each other and “kiss”
i am more curious about this now also because my cockateil has layed 4 eggs over the last week. i know her eggs are not fertilized because she is alone. but yet she sits on them and protects them. (i will remove them once her hormones straighten out)
i was also told by the breeder i bought some of my parrots from that it may take a couple times before the birds figure out what to do. weird that these birds have no interest in their eggs.
Her birds have laid eggs before. She’s given me one to try and hatch every time they laid eggs. They never hatch. How could I hatch one my self or sould I even try. Should she get a nest box or could we make one. If we could make a nest box how should we make it. Also how do we find out if the eggs are fertilized. Please try to tell every thing about hatching an egg I don’t know any thing about bird eggs. Please help!!!!!

My pet budgie layed 2 eggs today. I’m not sure what time but I didn’t see them until after I ate dinner. There were two eggs on the cage floor, and my uncle put them in a boxed full of torn up tissue paper. The box is 3×3 inches, so its pretty small. The box is now in the corner of the bottom of the cage. We have very little experience on knowing how to take care of the eggs. Its out first time our budgie has ever layed any eggs. There are 4 budgies in the same cage. Will that be a problem? And should we get a nesting box? Was moving the eggs off the floor a good idea? It is already past midnight right now and I just checked the eggs. None of the birds are keeping them warm, and we aren’t aware of which bird is the one that layed the eggs. We don’t know which ones are the female/s or the male/s. As you can see, I’m desperately in need of help, and we have little experience. I should note that I’m not sure if both eggs were layed today. The cage is also outside in out backyard. Help Plz

my parakeets live together in a big cage only 2 male-female I have had them about a year, I bought a nesting box last summer, they picked out the inside of the nesting box then they just looked at it a while then on the 7th the female laid 2 eggs (might be more) I only see two, I don’t plan on breeding my birds but I wanted to give the new ones to my mom, I don’t mind taking care of more birds, I don’t plan on hand feeding them they are cage only birds
