Where can I buy a java rice finch near Houston Texas area?

I want to buy a baby java rice finch so I can hand feed myself. Petco or Petsmart have only adult finch they don’t sell baby bird. I don’t know if java rice finch is very hard to find in Texas, because I call some breeder and no one is selling this kind of finch. I am willing to travel to get one, as long as the location is in Texas.

Cockatiels feeding babies that aren’t theirs?

I have 5 adult cockatiels. I started with 3 then 2 of them had 2 babies. Well those 2 babies are adults now and one of them mated with the other female I had before and they now have 3 babies, they’re about a week old. Now that they are rather big, the parents aren’t in the nest box as much, allowing the parents that had the 2 babies in the first place, to go in the box, and they feed the new babies every now and then. These birds must know that these aren’t their babies, why are they feeding babies that aren’t theirs?

disformed baby?

ok first of all is it poible for a baby to be dis fromed by parents breeding with there mom or dad or brother or sis?my one babys wings are rely far down near its legs and it had a rely long neck and its legs look like they are the bent up the wrong way meaning its feet are pointed to the sky not to the ground like a normal bird. when its an adult and have to fend 4 itself will it die or will it stay in the nest and keep having he otheres feed it?i dont want to have to humanly kill it if it has a chance but i dont want it to suffer..so i gas it or leve it do do what is needed in nature…i would prefur to give it a fighing chance.

What to feed young-ish zebra finches?

I took two little baby zebra finches (no adult colouring at all) out of my aviary and put them in an indoor cage. The nest had been abandoned and there was a dead baby bird in there too. The two birds I took out had just fledged and no other birds seemed to be paying them much attention. The nesting box was wrecked so I have since pulled it out. I have provided the two young birds with finch seed and water but I have noticed that there are no cracked seeds or husks. I presume this is because they aren’t eating. I’ve tried to feed them some warm porridge and milk through a dropper and this worked a little bit, but it was late and they seemed tired. Any advice on a homemade feeding recipe and feeding techniques would be appreciated. Thanx

What do you do about a baby bird that fell out of a tree?

I live in rural North Carolina and we had a nasty storm today that blew down a lot of tree limbs and apparently dislocated a few baby birds from their nests. We managed to save one, what looks like a sparrow. It has most of its adult feathers and can fly (learned that the hard way) but didn’t seem to be able to fly when we found it, so we brought it in to keep it safe from our dogs. One baby robin wasn’t so fortunate and was killed by our lab before we could help it. It ate some mushy cat food/water and is now asleep in a shoe box in my little bathroom. I don’t plan on keeping the bird, that would be wrong, but I want to help it. My dad won’t take it to a vet or rescue group because he thinks it will cost us money, even though I’ve told him it won’t, but it’s like arguing with a brick wall. He says keep it for a couple of days, tie the dogs up and let him loose outside to see if he can fly away. hopefully he won’t go up a tree where we can’t keep an eye on him or feed him. Not sure what to do. Open to any suggestions. Just don’t tell me to take him to a rescue, I know that already, but I’m only seventeen and I can’t take him there w/out permission.
Okay, Squeakers (believe me, it’s an appropriate name) is back in the tree, flying around from branch to branch, and we left some of the mushy catfood out there for him. The dogs are tied. we thought he was probably okay when he escaped from his shoebox and flew to my shower curtain.
