Breeding cages or nest boxes in flight area ?
Can anyone advise me on which is best,
1) nest boxes in the flight area allowing my 2 sets of birds to just have a “free for all” attitude or
2) put them 2 sets into their own private breeding cage and let them get on with it.
I have had 2 answers from bird loving friends but one said colony breeding with nest boxes and the other said hand picked certain birds in private quarters. I am so confused now HELP…
My Lovebird has a huge lump over its eye- do you no what it could be?
Hello, My lovebirds eye has turned into a HUGE lump. Its almost like a second head. I have pictures if anyone wants to look at it.
About 6 months ago it was just a small lump. I hardly ever see the bird as it hides away in her nesting box but when i fed them today she came out and OMG is it huge. She is quite old i think 10+ years. She was given to me a few years ago from a friend who didnt want to take them to there new house. There are 6 birds in the cage.
I dont really want to take it to the vet but at the same time i dont want it to be suffering. Do you think its a cancer?
If anyone wants to see a picture i am happy to email you the picture. (dont no how to post it on here)
Baby Bird Help?
I found a baby bird and have tried to call local places but cannot find anyone at this time that would take it, so now I would like to know what should I feed it, how often and how much…this bird is able to stand and hop has feathers but cannot fly yet and is still a little unsteady at times. the birds size full grown is bigger than a sparrow but smaller than a pigeon. not sure of the breed yet.
How does one build a nest box for wild pied fantails?
I’ve read that styles of nesting boxes differ according to type of bird. Can anyone provide a link to a website that offers specific instructions in building one? I would like to place several pieces in my garden.
I found a wild baby bird and it just died, does anyone know why?
ok i was in Greely, Colorado the other day and a mother black bird was kicking her baby otu of the nest repeatedly after we put it back in the nest. So i brought it back to my house, Peyton, Colorado and it did fine. That is until about 2 days after ive had it here, it was eating and jumping around and stuff but then today i came in to feed again (eggs scrambled and finley smashed up with water and some baby formula) and it was laying on its side (this morning i noticed it had stopped chirping completley and was only making a weasing noise) i had no idea what to do so i hopped on the internet and tryed to find what i should dom and found nothing. He died about 15 minutes after i had seen him on his side. He was about 2-3 weeks old only had a few feathers and pink still showing, I would like to know why this happened. I beleive it could have been a respitory problem judging by the loss of chirping, but i had a heat lamp over him. *This was a BlackBird by the way* ANY ADVICE NEEDED!
