I need some suggestions on good wild bird feed for NE Texas.?
I live in the piney woods of North East Texas. As a practicing Wicca, I enjoy and respect nature. Since it has been so dry this year, I am trying to help feed the wild birds. I have put out sunflower seeds, wild bird feed, and thistle seeds. I will also make some suet to put out when it gets colder. I was just wondering if anyone els had any suggestions for bird feed. I also make sure they have plenty of fresh water. Can anyone help me?

How does one build a nest box for wild pied fantails?
I’ve read that styles of nesting boxes differ according to type of bird. Can anyone provide a link to a website that offers specific instructions in building one? I would like to place several pieces in my garden.
Why is our male cockatiel so possesive over a cardboard box?
Our male cockatiel is about 9 yrs. old and he loves to explore in dark places. I took a 8 x 8 cardboard box and cut a hole in it and placed it on the floor. When I take him out to play and run around he has become so possessive over this box. He attacks you and screams if you come near it. He loves to go into and just pecks away at the cardboard and will come out in his own good time but refuses to allow anyone around it. He is an only bird, there is no mate. Are we confusing him into thinking this is a nest?

found that white Parakeets (my experinces is with the females) are crazy? I’ve had two white Parakeets, that were nasty to the other birds, they were distuptive and bit an awful lot. They were and are very unplesant to have. I have one now that picks up and drops the feed bowl. All my other Parakeets don’t act this way and I have 5 more. These birds I know weren’t abused, they came from good homes. Has anyone had this happen?
Does anyone know which colors are together on a coral snake?
We have all sorts of snakes on the property what with a woods behind us & lots of lakes nearby. I also invited all of the neighbors to bring their snakes to my fenceline a few years ago to discourage the rich neighborhood kids from hopping my fence to get to the local Wal-Mart’s on foot. Now I have snake holes everywhere & there is a particularly scary little fellow by the A/C unit that we are wondering if he’s poisonous. A coral snake has red, yellow, black & white striping in a certain order & the non poisonous one has the same but in a different color order & we’re trying to figure out which one he is. Someone let their reticulated python go around here & we also have python babies trying to eat the squirvels, owls trying to eat the snakes, falcons trying to eat the small birds that we feed at the feeder & lots of things like different snakes trying to eat the rats from the woods that try to eat the bird food! We just want to know about the coral snakes now.
How can you tell if you have a young king snake or a regular sized coral snake? Is it the red yellow or the red black that does it or is it the size that matters? This one was small fast frightened & left before we could be sure.
