Humane way to rid Cat of hanging around my feeders.?

I love cats I have 2 myself strictly indoor. I have a bird feeding station in my yard. I have not had any issues with predators but today I noticed a gray cat hanging around. I don’t have a fenced yard and its not an option to get one but wondered if there is any kind of safe humane repellant I could use to keep him away but not harm the birds or the chipmunks. I can’t use a water hose because it would make a huge mess but didn;t know if anyone knew of a repellant for cats but safe for the birds and chipmunks and something that won’t repell them.

How often should a baby bird be feed? Its probably only a few days old?

Question for bird feeding….?

Just put out a bird feeder on my porch about 2 weeks ago…don’t see any evidence that it’s been touched. Also put out a bird bath and a hummingbird feeder as well. How do I “spread the word” that there’s food and water available to all? Interested in attracting mockingbirds particularily. Thank you

Why is the Goldfinch the only finch that can eat upside down?

I live in So. Calif and have recently become interested in bird feeding. I have feeders for thistle that finches like and have heard that the Goldfinch (vs the common Housefinch) can eat upside down. There are feeders that accomodate this trait just for the Goldfinch without attracting the Housefinch. Does the Goldfinch range include So. Calif and will this special feeder induce them to feed? Finally, what is it about the Goldfinch that enables it to eat upside down while the other finches cannot?

bird feeding advice?help?

im in north carolina.moderate temps,no snow thus far.immense flocks of birds this year tho.are they dependant on my feeders?i’d like to taper off,but i dont want them to starve.im going thru a 5 pound bag of seed a day,there are so many birds.thats 3 to 5 dallars a day on birdseed.im in over my head,it wasnt as busy other years-how do i handle this?when is it safe to stop?i love them,but im running low on cash!help!
