I feed my cockatiel actual ‘bird food’ but i’d like to feed her other things like fruits of veggies. I know that greens are especially good but i’d like to try other things. (she doesn’t like lettuce or celery) I’m scared to give her something that might poison her! (some tree bark do poison birds)
I live in Fort Pierre, South Dakota, and I’ve been fascinated by birds for as long as I can remember. Recently, my grandfather and I built two plastic-bottle birdfeeders. We don’t usually see a lot of blue jays, but they *do* live in the area. I want to attract as many different species as possible. Will standard mixed bird feed work, or is there anything special to attract specific birds in the area? A few examples of some of the birds that I want to attract are blue jays, robins, chipping sparrows, other sparrows, finches, doves, and common grackles (locally known as “blue-headed blackbirds”). It doesn’t have to be just those species, though.
Anyway, an answer would really be appreciated. Thanks for the help.

My wife loves to feed the birds, unfortunatly Squirrels also love bird food, my wife has tride throwing stones, it did not work. I have just watched her chase down the garden brandishing a yard broom, shouting get out of hear, very funny to watch but am I getting it in the neck for laughing, help any suggestions, we do not use poison.
My friend is feeding it to their cockatoo and wanted me to find out about it, but I can’t find it on the web! Anyone heard of this food and how to find out what’s in it?

Ok, got a wild baby bird that has been mauled a bit. I’m holding it right now, wondering what in the world to feed it. My daughter told me to get baby bird food, but that means I have to drive a few hours because I’m so far away from an open pet store. I need to do something now because I think it’s hungry. Any suggestions?
my female parakeet have started going into the nest box .but she is not coming out of the box . only for a minute she comes and then goes back . when she was eating the bird food i looked in box there wasn’t any egg. she is also not leting the male to come into the box .help
