I found a baby bird and need help?

I found this little bird outside of its nest about an hour ago. It’s a high birdhouse and it looks like it was trying to fly and fell. I’ve got him safe in a comfortable box with tiny bits of bread for him to try to eat (He’s a baby, he doesn’t really know how to eat). And he can’t fly obviously so he’s really vulnerable. It looks like he was a little injured from the fall but he might be okay. I need suggestions on how to help him have some chance of survivor. And no, I can’t return him to the nest because the mother won’t care for him after he’s left.

P.S; how does a baby bird drink water? I’ve got a small little cap full of water near him but he hasn’t drank it or tried to eat the bread crumbs. He’s been sleeping for awhile, and still alive because he’s breathing, so I’ve left him alone.

Suggestions?
Those people don’t take regular birds. .__.
Also, those people only come for emergencies. And a bottle is WAY too big for about a week old bird.
Kay, the nest in a birdhouse 12 FEET UP. I’d have to fly to get to it. <_<

Put bluebird nest back in box?

If a bluebird nest falls out of the bluebird box (a/k/a birdhouse), is it best to let the birds build a new one (especially if their babies seem to have been eaten by the local cats) or put the nest back in the box? I have secured the door better so that this does not happen again. I had some hay in there for the winter, but they would not lay their eggs until I took it out, and they made their own nest and made it just right. They spent several months making this nest just right. I feel awful that it fell out. My only hope is that the babies flew away?
Is a jaybird a blue jay? We do have one that hangs around. They are beautiful, too, and I could not bring myself to harm one. It wasn’t nice of him to harm the smaller bluebirds’ babies, though. Yes, all the babies were gone, by the way. AND a family member saw a blue jay fly into the birdhouse today.

How can I make this big box into a birdhouse?

My mom rescued a young squirrel a few weeks ago and after researching online, found that we had to build a ‘squirrel box’. So my uncle and I built a box of plywood that was of the wrong dimensions. So I built this 14″x14″x14″ plywood box for nothing. So instead, I figured I’d make it into a big birdhouse. My mom said that no bird would nest in it since it’s so huge. So instead, I thought I’d make it into a Martin house? With many holes? How can I make this big box into a birdhouse? How many individual sections should I make and what kinds of dividers, spacers, holes, etc. should I make? I wanna make some birds happy this year =). Thanks!

Birdhouse for gerbil nesting box?

Today I got a Do-It-Yourself birdhouse. I’m going to use it as a nesting box for my gerbil.
The DIY birdhouse pack includes= All the wood (untreated) , paints and sandpaper and paint brushes.
I am not going to paint it because that might harm the gerbil.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is a standard bird house, with the full wooden roof. My da only nailed on one side of the roof so that the gerbil has a way to get out of the box if he is in-able to use the bird hole.
Will the screws affect my gerbil in any way?
Would the paint be harmful to him?
The wood is very thick and unchewable. So im not sure is a 5mth old gerbil will have the strenght to chew it. But i am gonna try the house and see!
Please Help!!! I have a question about the baby birds in my backyard?!?
Awhile ago a mama bird decided to put her nest on our deck. There are four baby birds now and they are all hatched. Last night a storm hit and the nest tipped over. So when we went to check on them, (like we do every morning) we found the nest on the ground and the smallest (about two days old) was missing. We are guessing that something ate it. We think it was a chipmunk because it only took one (the smallest) and the chipmucks live in a pipe right next to the nest. So we took a wooden birdhouse and took off the roof so we could put the nest in and we cannot get the roof back on however, we also put the house into a large dog cage because we origanly thought the bird was eaten by a cat. The mother bird wont go into the cage anymore because our dog tried to eat her. We do have a box too. We want to put the box over the birdhouse that is inside the cage during the night (when the evil chipmunk comes out) will they be o.k. w/o the mom bird overnight?
