Bird Feeder Activity at Canopy Lodge, El Valle, Panama – 20-01-2011

The Canopy Lodge is a wonderful base to explore the El Valle de Anton region of Panama. The Lodge is surrounded by forest, and sits astride a small river. Bird feeding platforms are placed strategically near the open-air dining area, and an impressive colourful variety of birds arrive when bananas and other fruit are placed for their consumption. The numerous big brown birds are Clay-colored Thrushes — this is the national bird of Costa Rica, by the way. At the start of the video is a male Tawny-capped Euphonia, and the tiny yellow bird zipping several times later around is the female. At the 33 second mark there is a Palm Tanager perched on the top of the tall wooden pole at the left side of the feeder. There are many Blue-gray Tanagers throughout.
