My father loves feeding birds and has several bird feeders. We seem to attract enough of all types of birds, but the larger birds (Blue Jays & Cardinals) have a tough time feeding as compared to finches and other smaller ones. We provide a wide-variety mix of bird feed and black oil sunflowers.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
There is a baby Blue bird that fell out of it’s nest. My cats were trying to eat it so my dad picked it up and put it in a box. We left it there for a while in hopes the parents would do something. We were looking for the nest so that we could put it back up in there. But we couldn’t find it, so it looks like we’re going to have a new pet to try and save. I need all the information I can get about saving a baby bird. Please help. (:
I just got a 6 week old parrotlet that i am hand feeding and need a good name I think its a girl. dont have any dark blue on my bird. Green parrotlet
We have blue tits, building a nest in a bird box, how long do they usually take to build a nest?
i have a bird that is about 5 years old(the male) and the female that is likely about a year and a half-2 years old. her cere is a crusty brown and his is a purple-ish blue, but she is aggressive toward him in the sense that if he gets too close she will try to peck at him. he tries to preen her and feed her and has in the past but i’m not sure if their bonded. i took the mirror and toys out of their cage, put millet spray, and a nesting box with pine shavings in it in the cage, but she hasn’t gone in it yet and its been a few days so i don’t know if that’s a bad sign or not.. the male sings to her a lot and chirps constantly, the temperature is right, but i can’t get them to eat anything but the millet spray and mixed seeds.. i’m not sure what to do or how long it takes for them to be interested in mating???? what do i doo??
he looks to be still into breeding its just the female im worried about. ive read a lot on the subject and it says its their own personal choice to breed and i dont know if she wants to.. so should i put the toys back in? and the mirror he was in love with..

I have a wire mesh cylinder feeder under an archway covered in ivy,
I have a seed feeder (also under the arch)
And fat balls in a few places.
The feeder is nearly always covered in house sparrows and no other birds seem to want to come.
I also lots of bird boxes all over the garden,
On the kitchen extension,In the hedge ect, ect…
I was just wondering how to attract their attention

Alright, here’s the situation.
Yesterday evening, my family found our cat attacking and trying to eat a baby Blue Jay. After getting it away from our cat, we put it in a box without handling it by our own hands with a sweater lining the bottom, and placed cat food softened with water in a bowl inside the box with it.
He made it through the night without dying of shock, and now he’s actually really vocal, and bouncing around inside the box trying to get out. We draped a towel over it to calm the bird. It’s still too young to fly, though, and the main problem?
We have NO idea where the nest is. We don’t seem to have any blue jays around here that this fellow could belong to.
So my problem now are two things: Feeding it, and getting it to a shelter.
So, can anyone hand me a website link of a center or shelter in Fresno, CA. that will take a baby blue jay and rehabilitate it, or take care of it? I’ve looked everywhere..
The bird is unharmed. It seems to have ruffled tail feathers, but other than that, it doesn’t appear to have any injuries.
