On Average, How much eggs do they lay? 4. Should I buy the nesting box when I buy the cage and the birds? 5. How long does it take them to mate? 6. If the female is holding does it need a special diet? Thank you so much for answering I know its long but I need help so thank you and add Additional details if u want

Hello, I know how to do the pelvice bone test to see if its a girl or boy .It looks like a girl but the bones are very close together and pointy could it be a boy even know its all green ?The dad was yellow and the mom was green.my bird is 6 weeks old and I am hand feeding.

true story and funny?

my grandmother was at the zoo and she was feeding the birds, the little boy standing next to her was also feeding the birds. when the little boy got curoius about what birds eat, he tried some for himself, but his mother slapped all the bird feed out of his hands and screamed (my grandmother is deaf, and she could hear her shreaking) “DON’T EAT THAT!! ITS NOT KOSHER!!”

Love Bird breeding questions?

I have 2 peach faced love birds, both are about 1 year old. I’m not sure but I think one is a male, and one is a female. I have them together in a large cage with a nesting box. I see them “doing it” all day long. They do it both inside, and outside of the nesting box. Like I said I’m not sure of their sex, if they are the same sex, boy and boy or girl and girl, will they keep doing it, even though they can’t produce anything? Also I can’t seperate them because when I did The one that I think is a female ripped out her feathers from stress. I do not want babies, so when they lay eggs I plan on taking them out as soon as i see them to prevent hatching, is this a good idea? If not what’s a better idea? I also thought about getting fake eggs and replace the fake ones with the real ones, so she will not keep producing eggs, is this a good idea?

My parakeet just laid an egg?

I have two birds in the cage, one boy and girl. I was told that I can put them in the same cage as long as there is not a nesting box available. One day, i saw the boy on top of the girl but they got off eachother as soon as I walked by. Then, my dad saw the female at the bottom of the cage pecking at something and we later saw it was an egg. Since we do not regularly give the female calcium, we put some in her food and she is eating it now, leaving the egg on the floor of the cage. What am I supposed to do? This has never happened to me before.

are my parakeets(budgies) going to mate?

umm i recently just modified my birds cage and added a nesting box to the side the next day i noticed my birds playing with the box like chewing at the hole and stuff. the day after that i noticed they go inside of it. I had some fluff in their box incase she lays eggs but they took it out will they mate? i live in northern hemisphere and its pretty much spring already my girl budgie and boy budgie are mature enough and when the girl is inside the box i guess the boy would come and share food with her you know when it appears they kiss. so i dont know if they’re going to mate are they?

Are my Cockatiel birds really mating?

Ok, so I bought what I was told was a pair- but then a pet store told me the females have very light colored cheeks. My “female” has dark cheeks. Anyhow, the “boy” sings to her all day and sometimes he mounts her. He is on her for what seems like forever and she is chirping loudly the whole time. Then he gets off and she chases him all over the cage and tries to bite him. They “mate” about 4-5 times a day, if not more. Usually he is the one in the nesting box, not her. No eggs have been laid and my husband insists that they are 2 boys, but why would the bird let himself is one and (2) wouldn’t the one who is always pretending to be the girl eventually want to be on top? My husband says maybe he wants to, that’s why he chases the other one around the cage. What do you guys think?

By the way, the “girl” is all grey with orange cheeks- the “boy” has a yellow head, orange cheeks and a grey body. The girl does seem smaller, in body than the boy.
