Is it weird that…????????
my parakeet only laid 2 eggs in her first clutch? I didn’t want her to breed or try to make her breed but she did with one of my boy birds and she only laid two, then I got her a nest box and she cracked them. I read that they do this when they know they won’t live. She is also 10 months old which is too young. Why did she only lay 2 when a full clutch is 4-6 or more? Thanks.
Baby Bird Help?
I found a baby bird and have tried to call local places but cannot find anyone at this time that would take it, so now I would like to know what should I feed it, how often and how much…this bird is able to stand and hop has feathers but cannot fly yet and is still a little unsteady at times. the birds size full grown is bigger than a sparrow but smaller than a pigeon. not sure of the breed yet.
EMRERGENCY HELP for pet bird owners that breed needed! How can I repair a cracked egg?
This is the first time my cockatiels have laid eggs. The first one was on the cage floor but I may have saved it by putting it in a nest box with bird nesting within 24 hrs. However, that’s not my biggest concern. One of the 6 eggs has a small crack that goes lengthwise. It is probably a half an inch if even. I hear colorless nail polish works but I only have colored polish! Anything else that may work???? I don’t have a car right now to get to the drugstore. I’m afraid time is running out. Also, the parents are EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE AND PROTECTIVE. Even the normally sweet female, bit me very hard and it’s bleeding profusely. By the way, should I see a doctor? I’m up to date on tetnus. I’d really like these eggs to hatch! I’ve been researching a lot and have 4 books on ‘tiels but none list anything but the nail polish. PLEASE HELP!!!! One more thing for fun, the male is a white faced pied and the female is a white face with just a dab of grey on one wing, what (Cont’d)
might the babies look like? And if I sell the babies (provided they make it), how much should I ask? And should I try hand raising maybe atleast one or two of them so they are more people friendly? THANKS FOR ALL ADVICE! HOPEFULLY, YOU HAVE SAVED A FUTURE LITTLE ‘TIEL! BY THE WAY, AREN’T BABY ‘TIELS ADORABLE AROUND 4 weeks old when they just start to get feathers? Cute, in that funny looking way like a bulldog puppy???

One Budgie Or Two?
I’m buying my first bird this Christmas (a budgie), so I have plenty of time to prepare. However, I’m a little confused. Should I purchase one or a pair? My new budgie book says just one is an “incomplete bird” and needs a friend to thrive. Is this true, or will they just ignore me? Will I still be able to tame them both? Also, will a male and female still breed if I don’t give them a nest box? I’m so confused!!
My Female American Budgie(parakeet) Has laid an egg. Now what?
Ok, I have been trying to Breed my budgies for quite some time, and I just recently caged the two I am trying to breed together with a nest box. They have been spending a lot of time in the nest box together and yesterday my female laid her first egg.
In all I have 5 birds. Alexander Flury(Alex for short) a Lutino ‘Teil. Lilly my nesting female green budgie. Baby, Lilly’s Mate. Kitten My lone female Budgie. And Sweety, My Ash variety Ring Necked Dove. They are free flight except for the dove as she is older. And the Nesting pair I have kept caged to Prevent an egg cracking inside Lilly and getting infected.
I have hand raised birds before(Rehabilatating wild American Robin chicks) And I have a *VERY* good Avain vet. I have been bird keeping for many years and this is the first time my birds have bred. Anybody have any advise for me?
Maybe I didn’t make it all that clear. I have the basics covered, Cuttle bone, egg food, dried greens, millet etc. Im just looking for misc advice. I have read up already and I suppose Im just making sure I didn’t forget anything important. I have a humidifier running to help the laying and hatching processs. Im keeping the room warm.
Incubating baby robin egg hatching! Peeping-Hatching-First hour of life-First feeding
So i was incubating a robin egg with a home made incubator. I thought it would take 2 weeks to hatch because i bred parakeets and it took long. So because it was home made the humidity was wrong. Which because of that i had to peck the bird out of the egg because its skin was stuck to the shell. It was bleeding becuase of its butt or some thing. But now its OK and living. After i pecked it out and it was completely out of the shell i waited 1 hours until its first feeding Subscribe to see me hand feeding it, it growing up day after day, and the sparrow egg i have hatching! What is the best breed of dog for an elderly person who has fragile bones and poor mobility?
My Mom and I live together and I will be primarily responsible for the dog. I will be walking, exercising, feeding, grooming, transporting it to the vet, etc., so that is no problem. However, I do work full time and my Mom will be alone with the dog for 9-10 hours a day/5 days per week. My biggest concerns are her being knocked down or tripped by a dog. Her mobility is limited and she is not too steady on her feet. We have owned several dogs in the past but have not had a dog in about four years (our last dog died of old age four years ago). We don’t want a dog that is too hyper or barky. I plan on getting the dog from a rescue or shelter. I am looking for a mature dog, not a puppy, since I work. I do have pet birds in the house so I would prefer something with a lower prey drive.
