Well I have quite a big aviary in the backyard with 5 budgies in it. 3 are male & 3 are female. Theres 3 nesting boxes and lately when i’ve been checking the birds I have found eggs on the floor, cracked. Today i went and checked on them to see 1 egg in the nesting box, but hours later i checked them again and it was on the floor, cracked. I’m not sure whats happening? Any help? Thanks

I have 7 bird 3 males and 4 females, I have them in this huge aviary and i would like to breed them, but i only have one nest box. How can i make my own nest boxes for them. I was thinking of taking some balloons, and paper mashaying them, then cuttingg a hole on one side, then painting them, and then hang them up, but i dont know if that is a good idea. If you got any ideas please tell me. If not…… Do you know any where i can get them cheap.

The female budgies cere is brown and crusty. I just wanna know should i be expecting eggs?

I know that alot of people ask questions like the questions that I need help on but i need a little bit more of information…

1.My female parakeet has a white and light-blue cere, can it breed without the cere changing to brown or must it turn brown for it to breed?

2.I don’t know if the male bird that i think is the male is really a male…His cere at the bottom is dark purple and the top of the cere varies from light blue to dark blue…Is it a male?

3.What size cage dimensions would be appropriate for breeding budgies?

4.And what size nesting box?

I have a few budgies currently and I’m attempting to breed a pair. Myllo is a Violet male and Kyra is a yellow and blue Pied female. They bonded when I first got them, but now they arnt bonded anymore. They stay on opposite ends of the cage, and when they are near one another, they dont clean or feed eachother at all. They just sit there. They have a very nice nest box in the cage and a very large cage when lots of toys and food and water mineral block and everything. There very happy birds other than the fact that they wont bond with one another. Should I buy another female and attempt to bond it Myllo. Or another male and bond it to Kyra? Or should I get a totaly new breeding pair all together?

What can I do to get them to bond again?

Hi, I got a cockatiel on Dec 28, 2008 (Happy New Year guys! ^_^) and its my first time having one. S/hes all yellow with orange checks and I named herm Pikachu XD. His/her previous owners neglected it. Bottom of the cage was full of poop, water bowls were green (I just had to throw them away), nest box had mold growing in it (it was so thick >_>), and they had no perches AT ALL in there! I have no idea how long this poor bird has been like this. They used to have three cockatiels, one just died, and the other flew away, so the poor bird became depressed and started plucking, they let herm free, it came back and kinda got attack by the owner’s dogs T_T I’m just so glad they decided to give it to me (its great everybody in my family know me as the bird lady, so when ever they have a unwanted bird, they think of me). Now s/hes in a better home with a loving parent (me) that cares about him/her. I was going to put herm in the cage it came with, but it was soooo dirty, seriously I couldn’t clean it, had to throw it away. So the bird is in the same cage with my nine budgies and house finch. I trust the cockatiel with them, s/he doesn’t bite them or anything. How long will it take for budgies to get used to such a “big” bird in the cage? How can you tell the gender between male and female on cockatiels by looks, aggression, personality, or vocalizations (males louder than females? you know… that kinda stuff). I’m just curious on what it is, male or female, its a really nice bird, but the little guy is still scared and confused. Since the fact s/he had no perches in the cage, s/he has a very weak grip, but s/he can be on a perch, but a few wobbles here and there. How long will it take for the bird to have a strong grip? Its hard to finger train herm… Do you think its to early to be finger training right now? How can you tell if the cockatiel is young or old? Can you teach cockatiels to talk? How long do they live if given great care? I gave herm broccoli yesterday, and he pecked at it. Any tips. extras, you can say on these awesome birds? Sorry that its so long, but you gatta remember, its my first time having a cockatiel o_O… I’m so happy to have one ^_^

Okay, we have a bird aviary (not very big) and we have 4 budgies in there, so two males, two females and they are in pairs.. So two had 3 eggs and layed it in there nesting box and then a few days later they weren’t there and I saw a dead really young baby bird outside but not trace of any other birds or eggs.
The other pair kept hanging around there and one couple lost two eggs, which got dropped on the floor, we aren’t sure which couple it was, but my nan said she saw the other couple (without eggs) mating.

So where and why do you think the eggs in the nesting box went?
