what can ferrets eat, besides ferret food, birds, and mammmels?

I’ma vegan. and cannot buy ferret food due to ethical reasons and health for my ferret… I don’t want to feed her food w/ pesticides and fillers in it, & that came from crulty treated and slaughtered animals.
can they eat seafood, nuts, beans, honey, etc.
damn people, I’m not making my ferret a vegan, read what I asked… fish is not vegan or vegitarian, I jus asked what else she could eat, I still plan on buying humainly raised organic meat from my local ukrops… as for my ferret, I took her in from her owner who couldn’t care 4 her anymore… did that help clear some shit up 4 all u dumn fat ass rednecks?!

I just found wild Baby Bird?

A baby bird was just lying in our driveway. It must be from a nest somewhere in our yard that is up so high that we cannot see it. I want the bird to be able to go back to his mom, so what should I do? I was going to make a little box with grass and leaves and tissue paper etc and leave that on top of our car overnight, so coyotes cannot reach him, but his mom can find him and bring him back to the nest. What would you do?
The bird is just a normal bird that lives in our yard. My dad picked him up to have him fly, and he flew in the air for a second and then fell to the ground. He has feathers so he isn’t to young
is it worth calling a wildlife rehabilitation center or my town vet?

My 13yr+ cockatiel cannot stand or walk?

Bobo my 13yr old cockatiel cannot stand or walk. she was on my shoulder and she fell or flew off. when i went to pick her up she was unable to walk. this all happened late yesterday and she has not had any bowel movements since then, she does not want to eat or drink today.
I have her in a low profile box with a towel formed to nest her body and she seems to very comfortable. Did she have a stroke?? Can birds have strokes??
I am also on a budget how much would it cost to take her to a avian vet?
Please help, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

baby bird found?

While vacationing in Central Wisconsin I found a baby bird floating in the lake, about 100 yards from shore. It is NOT a water bird. I picked it up and brought it inside, wrapped it in towels and dried it off. I didn’t think it’d make it, but it’s doing okay. It has all of its feathers but still cannot fly. I’m feeding it a combination of wet dog food, sow bugs, moths, crickets, maggots. The thing eats anything. My question is what kind of bird is it? I’m a seasoned bird watcher but this one has confounded me. It’s about 4 inches, no tail feathers, charcoal grey back, grey belly. Beak is like a starling (not yellow though, just the shape). It constantly squawks. Non-stop, only at night when he puts his head under his wing to sleep does it stop squawking. Any ornithologists out there who can help me figure out what the heck this thing is?

What do you feed a baby pigeon when you DO NOT have kaytee exact powder and the bird CANNOT return to its parents?

I only wanted to know this incase something like this were to happend to me, I live in Las Vegas, NV.
Thanks again popdop! the only reason I asked this because some of the pigeons my friend in L.A. owns will sometimes reject their young and I wanted to know what I should do, if my friend happens to give me one of the babies if the foster parents don’t except it.

cockatiel cannot get off its back?

i have already asked this question but I do not think my question was thorough enough,
I have an approx 10 week old cockatiel unable to get out of the nesting box as it is stuck on its back. It just flails around on the one spot with its feet in the air. Is there something I could do or would it be more humane to euthanise it?
I will go to the vet for advice but I live in the country and will not be able to get to the vet for a few weeks.
The bird appears healthy, I think the parents are still feeding it.

What Should I Do With This Injured Baby Robin?

It’s hurt and cannot fly. Should I take it to a bird sanctuary, or leave it alone?

The Story: Two red breasted robins decided to nest this year in my bush. They had two eggs, one hatched about a week before the other.
Later, the older one decided it was time to leave the nest. In the confusion of it wandering around and shaking all the branches, the littler one got spooked, leaped, and fell from the nest about 4.5 feet.
At first, I decided the best thing to do would be to leave it alone, but then my dog caught the scent and bit it. The bite wasn’t too terribly hard and it didn’t break the skin, but I thought it wasn’t safe on the ground.
I put the baby robin in a good size box with an open lid. The box was tall enough that it couldn’t jump out of it, but it could FLY out of. The parents continued to feed and protect the baby while it was in the box.
But now, about a week later, the little bird still cannot fly, while his older sibling can. I also noticed that his foot is twisted and deformed, and he cannot stand on it.

The parents are still caring for the little thing, but I fear they will stop if it doesn’t learn to fly soon. What should I do with it?
