I have 2 lovebirds. Neither of them are DNA sexed so we don’t know what they are. I used to keep them in separated cages 1 in my room and 1 in the family room. They would scream all day long so we put them together. Simon, ( mine ) would pull out Jazz ( my parents ) head feathers. So we separated them, and Jazz was pulling all of her wing feathers out. So we got a nesting box, and put them in a cage together well most of Jazz feathers aren’t getting pulled off anymore. They have been together for about 2 1/2 – 3 months. They laid 2 eggs then a few days later another one. About 2 weeks ago there were 12 eggs. Then I looked a few days later and there was 11, I looked today and there are 8. Are the birds eating the eggs? I don’t look every day because since we put them together they have gotten very mean, and all they want to do is bite. I have to wear heavy duty gloves in order to just look in the nesting box. I have put many kinds of nesting material in their nest, and they only use a little bit of it. What should I do with them? Both of them are too mean to handle without gloves, and if we separate them they scream all day long. Both of them are about 2 1/2 – 3 years old.I looked everywhere, there are no eggs, or even pieces on the bottom of the cage, the carpet, or anywhere. They were ripping the feathers out of the other birds head so that her head would bleed, and scabs would form over that. That’s why I put a nesting box and material in there. They have cuttle bones, but they never pay any attention to. I look at their eggs maybe once a week at the most. As soon as I put them together even before they started laying eggs they were nasty.
