We have just finished building our chicken coop, and the outside run is huge and completely secure. I was wondering if I could put a few parakeets or lovebirds in with my chickens, obviously with their own nesting boxes, food source, perches, etc. Would they harass each other? Would they eat each others food and cause a problem? Does anyone know of this ever being done? By the way, I live in Arizona so the weather isn’t a problem. Thanks.

My cat brought in 2 baby birds, one at a time. I think they may be baby finches. They are both covered in feathers but are unable to fly. The first one seems to have a broken wing. Probably from my cat. The other has lost a bit of blood but I am unsure of whether it is serious or not. I have them both in my chicken brooding box with the light on. Here is a picture of each of them:

The first one moved over to the corner of the box after I put its sibling in. I followed my cat to where she found them but I couldn’t find the nest. It’s night here at the moment so I don’t think I will be able to find it right now.
What should I do? What do you feed baby birds?
It’s too late at night to be able to call anyone or buy anything from the shops.
My cat is not a hunter. This is the first time she has ever caught a bird. She has only ever caught mice. At the moment it is too late to do anything. I live in Australia in a small town area, I am not sure if I will be able to get any help here =/
I was by the beach and i saw a bunch of birds (the kind that live around the water)….anyways i thought that the birds might be hungary so i gave them some fried chicken and they ate it like crazy!!! then more birds came and i gave them some more chicken……did i make the birds cannibals???
i got it 4 x-mas, didnt like it at 1st but now i like the little guy, what do they eat i have been feeding it breed and rice and bird seed i bought but it getting slimmer its still young what do they eat

For instance, doesn’t poultry (chickens, ducks, etc…) lay eggs but they only hatch if a male fertilizes them? However, does a female chicken mate with a rooster to produce eggs or can you have eggs without a rooster? My male and female cockatiel are ALWAYS breeding and I let her lay 2 clutches back to back but it’s too stressful for her to have another clutch so I’m taking the eggs out (I removed the nest box). However, she continues to lay eggs in her feed dishes. So far, she’s laid 13! I’m worried. SHOULD I REMOVE THE MALE? Would she stop laying eggs ’cause she isn’t breeding or is she like a chicken and will lay eggs regardless but they won’t be fertile? I’m confused! I think a lot of people wonder the same thing about chickens so it’d be nice if someone out there know A LOT about all birds in general. THANKS!

I was wondering since my chicken likes to eat mashed potatoes and bread. I’m not planning to kill him, but hypothetically, lets say if If I HAD to eat him, I’m not say I would, will he taste any different? And will he attack other chickens thinking they taste like unfrozen chicken nuggets?
BTW.. I WASN’t sure what category to put this as, so I put it under birds because putting it inder foods and drinks would make me sound strange.
