Where do northeastern birds sleep during cold winter nights?

I’m concerned about the local birds that feed in my yard all winter long, such as cardinals, sparrows, bluejays, etc. During the day, they chirp and gather in the hedges of my yard, but in sub-zero temperatures they would freeze during the night just remaining in the hedges. I want to know where they sleep???

How do I feed a baby bird I found on ground?

I found a little sparrow on the ground, looks like he had a bad landing or something, his one eye seems a bit sore and he does not chirp, I gave him some water but he does not open his mouth to feed, what can I feed him and how can I get him to eat, we put seed and bread/apple in his box too. He survived the night but am worried he will not get better if he does not eat soon. I took him outside this morning and set him on the grass but he seemed more content just sitting on my finger.
Good news, the bird has regained its strength and was able to fly home today, thanks for all the information and support.

I found a baby bird! Help! What to do?

So, my aunt found this baby bird yesterday evening on the ground. It was getting eaten by ants. She brought it inside and made a nest for him with a small cardboard box and some tissue with a warm water bottle underneath. We have determined that the nest is somewhere in this very tall tree above where we found the bird. So, the bird is tiny tiny. Maybe an inch and a half long. He is fuzzy bluish with small feathers only on his wings. His eyes aren’t open yet. So he’s probably a couple days old. He only makes a barely audible chirp when he opens his mouth to be fed. We have been feeding him watery oatmeal bits and warm soaked chopped up cat food by tweezers. We do this about every 25 minutes. He has been pooping too. Through the night we kept him in the warmest room in the house with a hat over the box. Today, we’ve been keeping him up on this shelf thing on the porch with the hat still. We tried calling anyone we could look up, but no answer. We live near Fayetteville, NC. So my question is, what things could I do to help this baby bird more? Advice please? Thanks!! Also, any name suggestions? I don’t know the sex yet, but a cute name could go either way. He seems like a boy to me. =)

Cockateil breeding question…?

Ok I have had one of my birds for a couple years now. I wanted her to breed with my male but he was very attached to me (actually would hump my hand) so he had no interest in her. Unfortunately he and my other female died from a bacteria brought in by a baby bird I tried to save (no contact but in the same room. I know I’m a horrible pet owner. I feel guilty every day) So since his death, after she went through antibiotics, I bought two more cockatiels. She seemed to really be hitting it off with one of them. They were doing the breeding chatter and everything. But she has suddenly bonded with me. I take them all out every day but she has become obsessed with me (like my male was). I have also been opening the nesting box every day so they’ll be used to me doing that and I think that it has just confused her even more. Now every time I walk into the room she runs up to the box and does her breeding chirp. And she now wants nothing to do with the male in the cage. They clean each other but that’s about it.

Sooo….my question is this… have I totally ruinned their chances of breeding? Or is there a way to get her less interested in me. I don’t want to stop socializing with them. Any thoughts?

I often believe I’m doing something wrong but I am i? IS THIS OKAY?!?

I go on youtube..Naked.. Go around busy places such as big box stores and I pretend I’m a bird! I go and peck and make bird sounds and when someone goes around my chips I chirp at them!” Screaming I’m a bird!” I then grab all the things from around the store and make myself a nest..naked..
I think my heart is in the right place. This okay?

Small bird fell out of her nest?

She cannot fly but is old enough to chirp and screech. Mom and Dad (bad father’s day—bad joke) cannot come down and bring her back to the nest. Should I feed her bread crumbs until she can fly???? This sounds crazy but I am serious–poor thing! Kids with stupid answers can proceed to next question.
