Is it ok to feed my budgie cuttlebone while shes in the nesting box?

I bought a budgie off the internet a while back for only ten dollars. when i went to pick her up, she ws kept in a tiny cage with no cuttle bone or vegges, just food and water. the cage also had NO perches or toys! i felt horrible for her and i was happy that i got to take her home with me where she was put in a huge cage with a male budgie. shes not sick, or carrying mites, as i had her checked out by the vet.
but ive always thought she was a male until recently when she laid eggs! her cere was white, with blue around the edges, and because of the blue i thought she must be a male.
any way, sorry for rambling, i read that a white cere meens there not in breeding condition, and so im worried about her. i want to make sure she has enough calcium in her system and the only way i can make sure she gets it is bye opening the top of the nesting box and holding the cuttlebone while she eats it.
it doesnt seem to upset her, and she happily nibbles on it, but i wanted to know if this is considered a bad thing to do? is it bad that i put my hand in the box while shes sitting on her eggs and feeding her?
i know budgies hide illness well and i caught her sneezing, but there was no discharge so i hope thats ok?
she laid 5 eggs that are all fertile, but she threw one out of the nest the other morning and im not sure why :S shes a first time mother, but she seems to be taking the roll very seriously so im confussed as to why she would do that?
also theres a third bird in the cage whose to young to sex, would he/she be responsible for the egg being thrown out of the cage? even though i dont think it would be able to get anywhere near the box as the male is gaurding it well.
also, is it normal for the male to be more aggressive towards me while hes gaurding the nest box?
thanks for any answers, and i dont need anymore information except for the qwestions i asked because ive read alot, and know almost everything i think i need to know regarding breeding.
thank you for that answer, but i do hang the suttlebone and she never eats it on her own, only when i feed her :S

Breeder’s Blend supplement for birds?

The direction say feed a pinch per bird per day. How do I feed it? Do I sprinkle it on the seed or add it to water? I already put calcium plus in the water and have a cuttlebone that they love.
I am planning to breed them. They are zebra finchs.

At what age do a baby cockatiel’s eyes open? And is it okay for the parents to be eating Cheerios?

I have 4 babies right now and 3 eggs left that may not hatch (1 was laid on the cage floor and the other 2 had cracks which I covered with clear nail polish). The parents are eating regular cockatiel food, millet, a powdery supplement for nesting birds, egg biscuits, cuttlebone (for calcium), broccoli, and Cheerios. They seem to like the Cheerios best and so far, the babies seem to be doing well (the oldest is 9 days old). Should I just continue on with what I’m doing then? I have been doing a lot of research on cockatiel breeding but I wasn’t prepared and that’s why the first egg was laid on the floor. I didn’t have a nest box in there since I didn’t think they had bred. Thanks for any info.!

okay my birds are parakeets as i have mentioned, she will not sit on eggs?

we now have 5 again she (flicker) has a male (beats) and a nice big box she seems to love it ,spends a lot of time in there also she don’t lay eggs inside her box outside it.some of them she breaks open or ignores them seems to move them around though loves her nesting box also has a cuttlebone, molting food ect…… WHAT ELSE DOES THIS HEIFER NEED?

Baby budgies what do i do?

ok. heres the situation. the nest box is placed on the floor of the cage. There are 3 chicks. 1 of them is quite big basically nearly the size of the dad. the second chick is abit smaller and there there the other one which is a bit more smaller. now the problem is. i wake up in the mornings to go check on the birds. all 3 of the chicks will be out. the 2 biggest chicks with be venturing around the cuttlebone. whilst the smallest chick sits under. the nesting box. i have yet to see any of them perching. what i have been doing is puting all 3 of the chicks back in the nest box and mum and dad are feeding them. but is this the right thing to do?

they come out around 2-3 times a day should i be putting them back?

the parents i dont think would notice the smallest chick as he keeps away from the rest

i have 14 parakeet and a nest box only one of them goes in side which is the girl?

i say this because the only female that goes in the nest boxcage is one female that its peak is growing to the side but i have a cuttlebone does that mean they want to have eggs should i separate those two birds.
