At night, hundreds of beetle like bugs come onto my deck to feed on the scattered birdseed – is there anything that can be done to rid my backyard of the bugs that is still safe for the birds?

There are many ducks out here, eating my garden plants. When a blue jay knocked over my feeder, the ducks came and now I can not get rid of them. I stopped putting food out for the birds. Several of my neighbors were putting bread on my deck. I have since blocked my deck off with potted plants. I have no idea what to do to make the ducks stop coming to my deck. Even when I stopped feeding them, they hangout in the yard. I stopped feeeding then 3 days ago.

Last night I came home from work, and a piece of my upstairs neighbors balcony was on my deck. I didn’t think much of it, I left a message for maintenance and went on with my normal life. My dog wanted to go outside, and I let him out, and he refused to come in, which is odd for him. (It is dark outside by this time) I finally go out and make him come inside, making him drop something that was in his mouth (I couldn’t see what it was, I just figured it was a piece of wood) This morning I go out and look on the porch, and right where I made him drop his “piece of wood” Is a flailing baby bird on it’s back. I didn’t know what to do, so I scooped it up in a towel and placed him in a box, which is resting on top of my privacy fence. The nest seems to have been in the balcony above my deck, but I see no other baby birds. I have seen a few birds take some interest in the nestling, but none of them have actually gone right to it.
Age- He’s a nestling, downy like hair, the start of feathers on his wings, and a bare underbelly. Alive and well. For now.
I saw something on the side of his box (I can see him from my window) And went to look, and it looks like another bird has relieved itself on his makeshift nest.
It may have fallen from above…
I decided to see if he made it through the day. He did and I called a wildlife rehabilitation center and I will be driving him up in the morning. Thank you for all the responses.

the nest is empty at this time, and would like to keep it under the deck for the sake of the hardworking mother bird and her future chicks, but under my Jacuzzi i can’t have it, so im thinking of moving it 3 feet away, same height. The new under the deck don’t have same support plank as where the nest is, if i place a box and make wide hole would it work? guess it would have to be weatherproof maybe wooded box? i need to know what to do before she give birth, any suggestion will help!
