I have just found a baby bird on the side of a path-?

I did initially take it home to give it a tiny bit of water as it is a VERY hot day- anyway i took it back for about an hour to see if the mother would come back but when i returned the bird was freezing (it has no feathers but they do look like they are starting to come out). Anyway i have taken it back home and put it in a box with paper towels/grass and some old nest that we found at the bottom of our garden- i have been feeding it every 20 mins since with mushed up dog food and the occasional bit of water- the bird definately seems to have perked up and has begun moving it head more and twitching and the last time i fed it it even made some noises- is there anything else i can do to make sure the bird has the best chances? i have read up on it but i just want to know if there is any more info? thanks x
- will it become dependent on me as its mother as i will be leaving home in a month – is this too soon?

Why is my dog always hungry?

I have a rottie/shepard cross and hes 4yrs old and about 120lbs. I feed him once a day about 2 cups of food with either a can of dog food or a can of soup in it. He get a couple of treats during the day too. I tried to seperate it and give 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night and hes still soooo hungry!
This part it sick… He will wait for my Akita to take a poop and then eat it right up! I once caught him pooping and then turning around and him started to eat his own poop! Its really disturbing!
Hes always looking for food on the ground and will even eat bird seed if its on the ground.
I have to watch his every move to make sure hes not eating anything bad. I pick up the poop everyday, that why now he waits behind my other dog for her to poop! soooo grosss! I have to let them out seperatly now and instantly pick up the poop!
PLEASE HELP!
alot of people are saying feed him more and one person said its too much food. He was over weight and now is doing better. Hes still not a skinny dog, but looks normal.
Any reccommedations for a really good quality dog food witch will make him poop less? Also I dont want it to be fattening.

what type of bird is this?

i found this baby bird outside and it was getting cold so i brought him in, the nest that he fell from was above my head and i couldnt get to it. he wasnt hurt from the fall but the nest was inside of a box on an electric pole i dont think that i should have messed with it, and if i were to open the box i woud have disturbed the whole nest. well i have had it for 2 nights, i frequently wake up to feed it…its a pain but i want it to live. i have been feeding it diluted dog food and it seems to be healthy. i was just wondering what type of bird it is so that i know how to better take care of it.

My Dad rescued a squab (baby pigeon) when some kids were shooting at the pigeons. What should we feed it?

The bird has some adult feathers, but mostly soft baby ‘down.’ I’ve successfully raised baby sparrows and starlings with a cooked rice and mushed dog food gruel, would it work for a pigeon?

new born baby birds, they are abandoned!?

I recently took one of the nest on the ground and there were four bird babies inside. I don’t have acess to buy new food in the pet store for them, also i have no cat or dog food. What should I feed them, I have no worms in my house either. Can I feed them chewed rice or someting?

Question about my Baby Bird?

I’ve been keeping some baby starlings after they fell out of the nest after a big storm we had. I’ve been keeping them in a cardboard box and they’ve been thriving with the mashed dog food and earthworms I’ve been feeding them. I’ve been trying to teach them to eat by themselves and one of the birds accidentally ate a piece of cardboard. (The shavings I was using to line the bottom of the box was the tan crumpled cardboard pieces that are commonly used for guinea pigs…) It’s not stuck in his throat, he swallowed the whole thing. I’m really worried… Is he going to be okay? Will he poop it out? They’ve all be pooping less frequently now that I think about it… (Even though I’ve been feeding them more frequently) I found them three weeks ago. Now they are fully feathered and starting to fly. Please tell me what you think about him being able to poop out the piece of cardboard. Thank you.
He cannot go free yet. I’m still trying to teach him how to feed himself and he ate a piece of cardboard instead of eating the worm!
I tried calling vets and wildlife rehabbers when I first found the birds as per the advice of my husband. The rehabbers in my area are individuals that don’t readily take birds, the rehab center doesn’t take wildlife West of Manorville and the vets offices don’t “specialize in small or exotic animals”. There is literally no place to bring them…

baby bird found?

While vacationing in Central Wisconsin I found a baby bird floating in the lake, about 100 yards from shore. It is NOT a water bird. I picked it up and brought it inside, wrapped it in towels and dried it off. I didn’t think it’d make it, but it’s doing okay. It has all of its feathers but still cannot fly. I’m feeding it a combination of wet dog food, sow bugs, moths, crickets, maggots. The thing eats anything. My question is what kind of bird is it? I’m a seasoned bird watcher but this one has confounded me. It’s about 4 inches, no tail feathers, charcoal grey back, grey belly. Beak is like a starling (not yellow though, just the shape). It constantly squawks. Non-stop, only at night when he puts his head under his wing to sleep does it stop squawking. Any ornithologists out there who can help me figure out what the heck this thing is?
