Neighbour feeding birds – ASBO??

I have a fear of birds (laugh if you want but its serious!) and my horrid neighbour always puts food out for the birds, not a proper feeder just stale bread and rotten fruit. She says its for her kids benifit but we live in a lovely town with a river with lots of ducks and swans surely the kid would prefer going for a walk and feeding the ducks than standing at the window watching crows and seagulls fighting over scraps!

It really freaks me out and I also worry about the fact stale food is left lying for days attracting all types of vermon! I read about someone getting an ASBO for feeding birds – think I could do that?

What do you think of somebody that respects all living things, even insects?

I’m so weird, I save all little things, such as insects, small birds that I feed with my mouth and I want to pick –up all street animals. My dream is, to live on a farm and have lots and lots of animals, pigs, ducks, horses, sheep, cows and chickens and much more! I have the greatest respect for plants! So weird! I even save ants…

Wood Ducks Leave the Nest Box

After approximately a month of incubating eggs, on May 26th, the female Wood Duck left the nest box for a morning break. We noticed one egg hatching at 6:00 am, and many other eggs hatching in the hours afterward. The mother duck endured all the active youngsters exploring the nest box for the next 24 hours. Then, at about 8:45 am the day after the hatching, the mother flew down out of the nest box, and gave a verbal signal for the young to follow. This video shows, in real time, how quickly the young left the nest box. All 15 young left in just over two minutes. One interesting aspect of this is that Wood Ducks and Hooded Mergansers compete for the same nest boxes, and will lay eggs for each other to incubate. In this case, the brood included 14 young Wood Ducks and one Hooded Merganser. All will be cared for by the Wood Duck mother until ready to go out on their own.

I want to scare ducks from my bird food. Looking for remotly (manually)activated horn?

Need a remote scare method to scare ducks from my deer feed. There are thousands of ducks that eat the food before the deer can feed. Dont wanna hurt em.. just scare em off

Do female cockatiels lay eggs even without a male and they just aren’t fertile? How does that workK?

For instance, doesn’t poultry (chickens, ducks, etc…) lay eggs but they only hatch if a male fertilizes them? However, does a female chicken mate with a rooster to produce eggs or can you have eggs without a rooster? My male and female cockatiel are ALWAYS breeding and I let her lay 2 clutches back to back but it’s too stressful for her to have another clutch so I’m taking the eggs out (I removed the nest box). However, she continues to lay eggs in her feed dishes. So far, she’s laid 13! I’m worried. SHOULD I REMOVE THE MALE? Would she stop laying eggs ’cause she isn’t breeding or is she like a chicken and will lay eggs regardless but they won’t be fertile? I’m confused! I think a lot of people wonder the same thing about chickens so it’d be nice if someone out there know A LOT about all birds in general. THANKS!
