our much loved sun conure died?

Our Sun cunure died yesterday got egg bound on her second egg she ever laid she was nearly 10 years old and a very much loved part of the family.
We are worried about our male will he be fine with a new mate? as they grew up together since birth. he seems a bit sad not acting normal not sure if he has relized what has happened he just sits in his nest box.

We really want to get him another freind, will he get along with a new conure? or learn to get along with a new conure? should I get an older bird closer to his age or a hatchling

why wont my budgies wont enter there nest-box?

i put the nest-box outside there cage (had to cut some bars from cage) and its been there for about 3 months and my budgies wont enter it, nor will they get even close to it, what can i do so that they wont be scared of it, the female has layed an egg before on the cage floor but it broke, is there an alternative i can use instead of a nest box?? they are both 2yrs old, and i want them to have babies, but unless they enter the nest-box this will never happen, ive been reading a lot of articles on the web, and all say to use nest-box, any suggestion or websites?? the birds have been mating a lot lately, but they will just refuse to go in or close to there box
yes it has a whole for them to get in it, and its also clean, its brand new, this is the one im using http://www.petco.com/product/6183/PETCO-Parakeet-Nest-Box.aspx
yes they are both male and female, one has blur cere and other has brown cere, yes everything is correct on the nestbox, and i feed them diff foods, they are just really scared of the box, they have never approached it, not even by putting a millet spray, it does have a perch also the nestbox

why did my cockatiels eat their chicks?

my cocktails (male and female) lay ed off 4 eggs like 4 weeks ago. they were very protective with the eggs all time. when the first egg hatched they took care of the chick very well, they were feeding it and protecting it every time i wanted to see it. Then they threw out an egg from the nesting box, ok so i thought they figured it out it was death already. So the next days when I tried to see the chick and if a cocktail was out of the nesting box he would go into it quickly they were very protective. Today when I got home i went to see if the other 2 eggs were hatching, but I didn’t hear the chick any more so I saw the nesting box empty and the cocktails were out in the cage and didn’t care any more about me looking at their eggs they were both eating, they never did that only one could go out and then return to take care of the eggs. So I saw the the nesting box and i couldn’t see the chick so i opened the cage and the nesting box. Nothing was there only an egg, so I search the chick everywhere, until I saw it, it was death and incomplete in the nesting box, and now i dont know what to do with the pair of cocktails, they ate and killed their chick, threw an eeg out and left another one there by itself. I don’t like them any more how come they do that. now they don’t care about the egg either. Please someone help me!!!!! i need help from someone that knows about birds. why they did that? they are like screaming like never before help!!!

my budgie wont lay on her eggs.?

ok, my bird is almost 5 months old, and shes laying eggs, and i dont know if they are fertile because she is in a cage with her dad and her.. other sibling. well i put them in a bowl with some nesting materials because i dont have anything else to put them in. in another cage i have a (lutino) hen and a cock in a nesting box and then one chick out of the 6 eggs that hatched. (the other 5 were duds). so im wondering if i should take the eggs from the one cage and put it with the lutino hen and her chick. the lution’s chick is about 18 days old, and the the first egg was lain 16 days ago.

and i have another question. in this third cage i have a hen that is on her second set of eggs this year. i didnt think that she would lay anymore (thats why i put the lutino and the male in the box) because she wasn’t in the cage with her mate, but i did see her doing it with this other male one time (which i didnt think would happen….) right now i have them in the best thing i could find that is close to a nesting box. shes in a popcorn box that has the top opened, and its on its side, on the bottom of the cage, but its really short and she cant really stand up on it. so would it be better just to put a bowl in there wit nesting things or no nesting things?

oh, thats alot. please help me.
the one that was 5 months old ate her egg. SHE ATE IT. or something. it was all gone and there were little white flecks on the bottom of the thing…

If a Cockatiel doesn’t sit on its egg for a day, is the egg no longer fertilized?

My Cockatiels have been mating for months. (I do have a male and a female.) My family and I tried to stop them from mating at first, then they laid an egg. (They’re pretty old birds so they only laid one.) My roommate wasn’t thinking and threw that egg in the trash. She replaced the egg with a white marble. A couple of weeks later they laid another egg. My roommate decided to put it in this nesting box we gave them, then the Cockatiels didn’t go in the box. So the next day we took out the egg and the birds are all over it. Is the egg still fertilized? (Sorry for the long story!

I need help right now, I found a baby bird and it’s night time.?

I found it sitting on the ground in my garage. There is a nest right outside the door which has a blue egg in it. (It’s august though so I’m not sure if that egg is just a dud.) The bird does have a lot of feathers and I don’t think it’s injured. I got it up onto a styrofoam box with towels around it and put it near the door so the mother could have a better chance of seeing it. I was at the other end of the garage for about an hour and I didn’t see or hear any other birds. Should I feed it something? Do mothers feed at night? Should I wait until morning and call some rehabilitating wildlife center? (Couldn’t find a number for this, I’m in Vermont.)

Why my zebra finches keep fighting?

I have 5×5 feet cage in which I used to keep two pairs of finch but I always saw them fighting then I placed their nest box on opposite corners but they fought, so I gave them back to pets keeper and bough two pairs of baby finch of 1month age they lived peacefully but they grow up and laid egg they also keep fighting, what the hell is with them????????
My friend has about 6pairs in 5×5 feet cage and they don’t fight.

Finch is a colony bird, why are they behaving so?

What should I do to prevent them fighting????? As I want keep 5pairs in this cage?
