I need hen egg info,?

So we are going to start buying hens and eating there eggs they produce. The only problem is……. I have never been raised on a farm nor do I know the first thing about them (With the exception of picking the eggs from the coop when I was little at Friends house) I just feel like something is missing. Can you really just go by hens and eat there eggs without getting sick? How do I know I am not going to get some parasite by eating it? How do I know the egg wont make me sick if the chicken is sick? Does it even pass through to the egg? Do I wash the egg or not? I am studying my butt off so I know what to do with the hens and I am getting confused. What is a perch? What is a nesting box? what is a roosting box? do I need all three? Can you get bird flu by eating an contaminated egg? If not bird flu what can you get? How do you make sure the egg don’t get contaminated? Please!!!!! someone help me, I am begging you! So, I know my chickens will have everything they need.

Found baby bird, fledging? LOTS of predators here, do I take in? feed? has some “fur” and some feathers, help.

We live on a farm, although there are many outside predators. As far as we see in the very tall tree above, there is no nest (could be & its too high to see.) She has a little bit of fur on head and back of body, with the wings on side having a few feathers on it. It really doesn’t seem strong enough to attempt fledging, as its having alot of difficulty moving around, although then again, I am not its mother! lol I am afraid to put it back on the gravel drive or nearby for its parents, because there are MANY predators here. It will be eaten up quickly We have it in a box with hay and an abandon nest from last season. What do I do now? HELP! THank you!!!

Is it OK for me to make my cats toys and such or should I spend the money and buy them.?

I have 13 other animals (small farm, I know) and between feed, meds, housing and basic uptake, it gets expensive. I buy my dog bones and such, horses get bread treats and “jolly balls” rabbits get treats but don’t care for toys, and birds get toys especially designed for them but I made a scratch post for my cats and have thought of some other toys I could make for the cats without spending a lot of money. As long as they are happy and enjoy playing with what I make and it is safe for them, should I worry about buying them the expensive toys and kitty habitats, post and such things from petco and petsmart.

what makes excess fat on my broilers?

i have alot of excess fat on my birds i feed them a broiler crumble from our fleet and farm. is it the by products in the feed OR would restrticting feed at night but still feed them the broiler crumble make a difference. we want them to grow fast but not fat. another option would be to get feed w/out the animal by products. i say either get a non animal by-product feed or restrict feed with the by products in it. any ideas?

nestcam – Bird Nest Box with Built in Video Camera

Mccam have solved the problem and have now created a unique bird friendly camera system which they have installed into nesting bird boxes providing live video with sound of all the action that goes on inside nesting boxes and without disturbing or interfering with the nesting birds natural cycle. Easy to set up and very user friendly, simply site your Nestcam, plug in to your tv and switch it on! The Nestcam features a wide angle lens allowing you to see not only the nesting chicks, but also the entrance hole where most of the feeding will take place. Installed with a unique image sensor that allows for colour images during the day and infra red nightvision at night without disturbing the birds and providing 24 hours day viewing.
