I have a pair of Zebra Finches that mated. The eggs hatched about 4 weeks ago. I opened the nest box to check on them, and all four flew out. I had to chase them down and catch them to put them back. Since my scent got all over them, did the mother decide to reject them? They are about 4 weeks old and have all their feathers, but their beaks are still black and they don’t really come out of the nest box. Did the mother abandon them because i touched them?
thanks…I was worried. The female and the male were both staying out of the box and they tried mating again. They went back in though. I’ll pick a best answer as soon as it lets me

I found it sitting on the ground in my garage. There is a nest right outside the door which has a blue egg in it. (It’s august though so I’m not sure if that egg is just a dud.) The bird does have a lot of feathers and I don’t think it’s injured. I got it up onto a styrofoam box with towels around it and put it near the door so the mother could have a better chance of seeing it. I was at the other end of the garage for about an hour and I didn’t see or hear any other birds. Should I feed it something? Do mothers feed at night? Should I wait until morning and call some rehabilitating wildlife center? (Couldn’t find a number for this, I’m in Vermont.)

My cat just left on the patio three baby birds. ONly two were alive. THey have little to no feathers and the humane society is closed so we can’t
give them to the humane society! I put the birds in a shoe box with paper towels but I don’t think they will survive. I want to return them to their nest but I have no idea where it is! however i know of where an abandoned nest is and I was wondering if I were to put the baby birds in the abandoned nest, would their parents be able to locate them? please help! (p.s can baby birds eat chicken feed?)

my cousinis and i just found 2 abandioned baby birds. we have them in a box with a nest we made out of mud, hay and feathers. they have been jumping around and lflapping their wings but are unable to fly./ we are wonder how ofter we need to feed them, what to feed then, and how to feed them.
we have 3 bird nest on our roof and my parents wanted to take it down becuase it was pooping EVERYWHERE and they took one down and the 4 baby birds fell and 1 died. they are small but can see and have developed feathers .
we picked up the remaining ones and put the 3 in a bucket. We left it outside to see if the mother reclaims them. if they do not, how do i take care of them. i am already an owner of a bird but ive never handled younger ones.
