Can I Feed My Birds Dog Biscuits?

Is it okay if I give my birds (lorikeets, parrots, finches, quails, doves) a small amount of dry dog biscuits every day (along with everything else I feed them)?

Can not get Finches to feed on my feeder. Brought Thissel food. Hanging in front yard, very busy street.?

Finch Feeder has been hung out for over 6 months, first hung in front of kitchen window, then moved feeder to tree limb. Can see the Finches every day in tree, but they do not come to the feeder. Have placed special Finch Food in feeder and even on the ground to try and attact them to the area. Other birds do not eat the finch food. I live on a very busy street.

I have some infertile eggs in my finches sleeping/nesting box.She has had nothing to do with them.?

For over a year she has used it as her sleeping nest.I put our male Canary into share the cage, soon after the eggs appeared, but i have been told that a Male Canary and a Female Zebra Finch would not mate and that the female Finch can lay eggs without a male bird?Is this correct and if so, should i keep them together?I have not seen them mating but they seem to get on ok together sharing the cage. What should i do with the eggs?

Zebra finches are dying?

I had 22 zebra finches. I had them about 2 to 7 years when all of a sudden the other day when I went in to feed them I saw 3 of them dead on the floor of the cage. I had never seen this before. I have had one die before but not 3. I moved the cage and called the bird lady in town and she said to give them some antibiotics in their water. I did this and the next morning I found 4 more on the floor and 3 in the nesting box. I was mortified. Does anyone know what type of disease could do this??????? One of them was my oldest finch I had for 8 years. My little girl is HEARTBROKEN and I am extremely angry that she had to see that.

I did notice that one of them looked like it had its eye pecked out by one of the others but now I am thinking it might have something to do with their death
Birds do not drop dead of old age all at once and some of them were 2 or 3. Zebra Finches particularly males live to the age of 12. If you are unsure of the question please dont answer

New Society Finch Owner! Help me!?

Hey everyone! I bought two society finches Friday. The gentleman said they were too young to know for sure what the sex was, but he believed he got a pair. *How old do you think they are. Stupid me forgot to ask* One of them sits and sings constantly while the other kinda squawks. I thought I read somewhere that the singer is the male? Is this true? I bought them finch food and a mite protection thing. When should I buy them a nesting box? I understand it’s necessary for breeding, but should I get one now?I have done a little research and learned they like fruits and veggies. I put park of a cellery stalk through the bars and they want nothing to do with it. Can anyone tell me about the fruits/veggies they prefer.
I had a parakeet in the past, so I know most birds need cuttle bones. Uh. That’s about all I know. Please don’t flame me for going in unprepared because I know. Lol.
I am basically looking for ANY information about my beautiful birds. I hope to have them a long time.

Starlings are taking over my backyard birdfeeder…?

I have a backyard birdfeeder, and want to know how to attract different birds than I am getting. I am using mixed feed, also have a suet feeder, and I put out corn for the squirrels and birds. For the first couple of weeks, there were a couple of house finches and a downy woodpecker, along with cardinals, sparrows, doves, blue jays, grackles and juncos. But now, it seems the starlings are taking over. They’ve figured out how to eat out of the feeder, as well as from the suet, and run the smaller birds off. I wouldn’t mind feeding them too if they weren’t such bullies. The juncos are gone for the year, but I haven’t seen the woodpecker or finches for awhile. I plan to get a finch feeder, but is there anything else I can to to encourage different birds to come?
