My sister and I are caring for a 2 week old bluejay. When do we start weaning and what do we do?

He’s eating baby bird food fine, and we are keeping him warm and he (or she*heh*) is healthy…But I don’t know when we should wean him…And what do we feed him with? I basically need a long detailed explanation of what to do when caring for a baby blue jay…

I have two cocktiels. How do you tell the sex?

I have bought a nesting box but they don’t show no interest in it.I was givin these birds and the people didn’t know the age or sex. They get along just fine together, but no interest in mating.

baby parakeet questions?

We just had an unexpected hatching of parakeet babies over the last few days. Mom and babies seem fine at the moment. Any particular issues that need adressed to continue for them to thrive? ( please be nice I was hesitant to ask since some responses have been rather nasty. The birds were a present to my daughter. The were bought from a pet store reffered to me by a friend that advertises they “specialize” in birds. we were advised to buy two for companionship, and were advised that male/female pairs are the most compatable. My first comment was that we weren’t interested in breeding and I was told that if we did not provide them with a nesting box they would not fertilize them and to throw the eggs away when they looked like they lost interest. Well they did fertilize them, they didn’t lose interest and now the babies are here and I cannot change that. Any advise would be welcomed however I am not here to be chastized as an unresponsible pet owner.) Thanks!

I have two little Parakeets and I need info.?

I have two sweet birds. problem is I work all the time and hardly have time for them. I feed them every night, clean cage, fresh water, food, the works! Should i make time to spend with them so they will be more friendly when someone trys to hold them or are they just fine together?

Abnormal baby parakeet? Help please!?

While the baby parakeet was still small, I checked up on it and it looked perfectly fine…Except for the fact that it kept its whole body flat on the ground of the nesting box. I thought that this whole thing was just temporary since all the other baby birds could never actually stand up yet.

The baby parakeet now has most of its feathers grown in but hasn’t grown out of the laying flat phase. I feel REALLY sorry for it because it’s basically doing the splits and its legs don’t bend in a way for it to stand up. It has a hard time moving from one place to another because it can’t stand. Is my bird “special” or will it grow out of this? By the way, both of its legs are capable of moving but don’t bend.
