Do love birds eat their young?

I have a pair of love birds. The A/c blows extremely cold in their room so I put a nest box in the cage, they apparently think it’s a stab-in cabin, b/c there are four or five eggs I noticed a month ago, I checked last night in the box with a flashlight and it looks like one egg is cracked and another has a quarter inch hole in it, but I don’t see any babies?? I kind of concerned any advice?? Would really appreciate some educated opinions, from experienced bird lovers, list source if not too much inconvenience. Thank you
Thank you “Miki” for taking the time to answer my question.

I’d like to explain a little further into the temp. I made it sound like an arctic zone in their room, but the coldest it gets in there is probably 68degrees, big two level apt. 7-10 degrees warmer in other rooms at times. Made that their room b/c good windows and I understand that sunlight and cuttlebones are a good source of calcium for the little fellows. What would be an Ideal temp. for their young to hatch.?

Blue egg is due soon, help!?

I hvae a bright blue egg, i have been heating it on a heating pad. Is it true that heating pads will cause hatchlings to have some type of deformity? I have been candling it, the light from the flashlight stimulates it to move. I can see veins, and most of the egg is dark and hard to see through unless the chick wiggles around to a different position. How many days before you think it hatches? Should i lower the temperature of the heating pad a few days before it hatches, or keep it the same? I know what to feed the chick, mashed up earthworms. I need as much information on what i have to do to be a prper mommy bird when the egg starts to hatch, any websites with info?
