The wood insulates the eggs alot better and does not heat up and cool like metal does. Yes I do have to treat the barrels and clean the insides from toxins. I may take the barrels apart and sand the interior down to freah wood. Here is the link: www.kingbarrel.com/1822.html
Can anyone advise me on which is best,
1) nest boxes in the flight area allowing my 2 sets of birds to just have a “free for all” attitude or
2) put them 2 sets into their own private breeding cage and let them get on with it.
I have had 2 answers from bird loving friends but one said colony breeding with nest boxes and the other said hand picked certain birds in private quarters. I am so confused now HELP…
there is a baby flight less crow in my backyard. parents are showing osme intrest in feeding the bird but none in getting the poor thing out of the yard and that needs to be done fast because a storm is blowing in my area. it needs help soon or it will die in the werather. what should it do. i could catch it and keep it for a while or leave it with only hopes.

Had a few requests for this, so made up a few photos and a small video showing our aviary set up and the budgerigars inside. There’s an indoor and outdoor flight, 4 breeding cages (the dark ones), only 2 in use for breeding right now. The bottom 2 are being used as nursery and hospital cages at the moment. There’s 2 white cages on the other side that we normally use for the chicks, or for the hen before she’s ready to go back into the aviary. Tiles on the floor (bought cheap at Focus) for easy cleaning, and a bit of lino on the side that got extended. the aviary will be getting extended again sometime this Spring, so I’m really looking forward to that
