Found a bird with broken leg?

This morining I was getting in my car and found a bird in the grass floppin around with ants all over him.So I brought him inside and got the ants off of him and made like a little nest out of hay and and got a cardboard box and put in inside of it then got a piece of cardboard and put it over the box like a roof.so he would have some shade, then gave him some water and wild bird food.I dont know what kind he is but he is small and black.I culdnt just leave him there so ants could eat him.So what else can I do to make sure he survives and his leg gets better? Thanks in advance.
Yeah It turned out he was a grey catbird, and he died, dont know how he was eating and even started flying a little bit off the ground. But then I walked outside for not even 5min.And when I came back he wasnt breathing anymore but his eyes where still open. But at least I tryed. Thanks everyone who ansered.

I found a baby bird on the ground it fall out of its nest. What do i do?

My sister and I found a baby bird on the ground in the middle of the yard. There were only very high branches above us. We give the baby bird a bug and a grub and also some water out of a syringe. Our neighbor works with animals and she told us once before that if you touch a bird its mother WILL come back for it. We put the bird in a shoe box with some leaves and grass then we put the baby bird in some shrubs to wait for its mother but if the mother does not come back we would not know the correct food to feed it. How can we kept this baby bird alive?

Mowing grass and killing creatures?

I was mowing the lawn yesterday and a darling little frog jumped on my leg…
I feed birds..make frog houses in the gardens…have bird and butterfly baths…I try to be very earth friendly…
Yet now I feel like Charles Manson…crickets, frogs…oh my~~~
Does any one know how I can prevent being a killer…I have to mow the grass…
Or how many “creatures” I am slaughtering on an acre of land…????

baby bird!?

I found a baby bird in my yard in some tall grass. I watched it all day & no other birds came to feed it, so I decided to try to raise it. I have had it for two days now & Iv’e been feeding it wet cat food (meow mix). It has been eating, chirping, & hopping around, so I’m guessing it healthy. It can’t fly yet & it’s already lost most of the fuzz & has started to get it’s feathers, other wise it’s a fledgling. I was wondering if it would just stop eating the cat food & start eating seeds when it gets to old for cat food or will I have to slowly start feeding it seeds until it gets used to them???

please don’t post answers such as take it to a wildlife rescue center or something like that!
thanks!
The bird is a blue jay!!!

Need Help About Lovebirds, please.?

I have two lovebirds, and the female already laid an egg yesterday, I already placed some bedding this morning that I got from our back and front yard, they consisted of grass, dried leaves, some leaves from a shrub, and some ferns. All moist to perfection because it rained here yesterday. I cut them into bedding-sized pieces and placed them inside the nesting box, making sure NOT to touch the egg out of fear that the birds might not sit on them anymore. But I did surround the egg with the bedding, so the eggs is probably cushioned. I also added boiled-egg in their diet, and some egg-shells, because I have heard that eggshells provide calcium. And plenty of green veggies. I change their water every now and then. And I secured the door of the box so the risk of the egg falling out when the birds peep out will be lessened. I still put them out to enjoys some fresh cool air. What more should I do? HOW LONG TILL ALL THE EGGS ARE LAID. Is it possible that ONLY ONE egg can be laid? This is my lovebird’s first time to lay eggs, can they be successful on the first time round? Do I have to wait for their second time to have babies? And when is the breeding season for lovebirds, I guess it’s the autumn or the cool season. Because when it started to get cool around here my birds laid an egg. I’m so excited of having an egg and I’m keeping to point to NOT peek at the box all the time. I peeked this morning to put some bedding and that’s that. How long do I have to wait till I can peek inside again to put some more bedding? Please answer me seriously. I need straight answers. Thank you very much.
