Will my Cockateil lay and hatch eggs without Nest box?

My friend gave me a male and Femael Cockateil about 2 weeks ago. The Female is 3 and the male 4 or 5. They were both hand fed. They have been together for around 2 years. My friend got them to breed, but the female would have no part of breeding…..Until they came home with me> I am not sure what changed but now I have cought them breeding on serveral occations and they LOVE each other. I do not mind if they have babies but there cage is not big enogh for a breeding box. What should I do? And why would they all of a sudden want to breed? PS they are very friendly birds and very gentle. In Fact they Male whistles a lot of tunes and does so while breeding. How long after breeding before the female will want to lay?

I was brought a baby blue jay by a customer. What to feed him?

I live in Oklahoma and I work at a pet store and a customer dropped off a baby blue jay and he has down feathers and some bigger feathers on his wings. Since we have Hand-Fed birds I am certified to hand-feed. i have been feeding him store bought baby bird formula and crickets. He has been eating really well and pooping good. He has a neck problem to where he cant keep his head straight but he is able to move it when he has an itch, so I know his neck isn’t broken. I need help to what blue jays eat and how often and how long to be hand-feeding him. If he lives he wont be able to go back into the wild because with all the other problems he is also blind in one eye! I have a dumb bird on my hands please someone give me advice.

when to handle the new baby?

I know every one says that to have the best, friendliest birds they need to be hand fed, starting about 3 weeks old. I was wondering, if I didn’t want the responsibility of having to feed 3-4 times a day but still want a nice, friendly bird, can I leave the feeding to the parents and just give the baby lots of love and attention? At what age is it alright to start getting the baby used to us? I have more questions but will save some for later. Thanks for your help.
