it found some baby birds, all dead but one :(?

i was opening my shed today and i found that a nest next to my shed had been ripped off and the baby birds inside were thrown out on the ground, all were dead (there were 4 of them all together) but one, the 1 that is alive is in a cardboard box that has an old birds nest from a previouse cat attack, the nest is all together, the bird is sitting inside, with a heatlamp shining on the side of the nest to warm it up, not directly on it, but my question is how often should i feed it? and what? i wound some worms in my backyard and fed it 3 of them, just little tiny ones, about 1-1.5 in long, it gobbled those up strait away. then it pooped in my hand. (i washed my hands with soap befor and after i touched the bird thank you). the bird seems active, it almost stood up, rolled around onmy hand, shook its head and opend its eyes. so what should i feed it and how often? and yes i know its tecnically “illegal” to care for a wild bird.

Yet another pigeon question..?

Here’s the situation: I have two pigeons. I originally thought they were both females because they would lay eggs that would not hatch. Eventually, they laid a pair that hatched. I noticed that they weren’t sitting on one after a few days, and it was super cold, so i took it in and hand raised it. Unfortunately, the other one was not sat on during the night and died. I did not take it in with the other one because it felt very warm when i was checking the other one. ANYWAY, I started making a larger coop to house more pigeons, and they laid more eggs. My mother did not let me replace the eggs with false ones because she wanted nature to take its course :/ .The eggs recently hatched and so far the babies seem healthy. Today though, I noticed that the birds were not sitting on the eggs, they were sunning themselves, eating, and preening one another. I checked the babies to make sure they were ok, and they seemed fine, they were warm and looked healthy. In the afternoon, I saw one of the birds in the nest box with them, possibly feeding them ( i couldnt tell for sure) but later, they were both out of the box again. I’m going to check again now, but it’s getting late, and if the birds are still not sitting on the chicks, should i bring them in and hand rear? These birds have a history of negligent parenting…
I meant chicks where it says eggs.

Is it so that when one reports a bird that is too young to fly, to the R.S.P.B /R.S.P.C.A.?

We found a bird, which was being attacked (pecked at) by crows, yesterday. at 11.18a.m. We brought the bird about size of a hand, into our home, and rang up the royal society for the protection of birds!
They said to place bird in a box in a quite cool room, and one of their agents would collect the same. The bird was still not able to fly it must have fallen out it’s nest! It seemed uninjured but obviously it needed feeding and i tried to mash up a worm for it but the bird ner really ate it.albeit the bird did drink a little water. At 8 p.m. and three more calls to the R.S.P.B. I had to go out. My Son, thought they were not calling and as He is scared of Birds, He put itin our back garden. But a Woman did call before 9pm and albeit hey went in garden could not find the bird. Callus again if you find the bird in the morning.
Luckily the little bird survived and was there this morning, all it needed was food crushed up and a week or so in a secure aviary, so he/she could practice how to fly, as it would try but did not know how too.
So we phoned up the R.S.P.B .we were informed an agent would call today, albeit no time was given .
I gave my Son’s mobile number and my landline number.
Within an hour He had a call from the R.S.P.B. on his mobile.
The same woman that called last night, told to my Son, to take the harmless little bird, to Wood Street vets to have it put down, As she could not be bothered to call again!

I thought that this body of people who are a charity, are there to protect birds, not say put them down cause they can no be bothered to call again!
Can anyone advise me please.
tanking you all that may
The number for the rspca is the same as for the rspb =03001234999
I don’t know what to do I can no look after this bird he needs professional help and time to learn how to fly! That is all he must have dropped from his nest yet she states over phone to My Son, She can no be bothered take him to vets to have put down !
thank you Beau and thank you Wacky, I am going to report her I notice on both their sites one has to report on their site to them in ‘contact us’. I live @ mo; in Barnet.

I want to attract chickadees??!!?

I went to camp just the other day and they let us feed chickadees, they were adorable and seemed to like me more because most of them came to me out of all my other classmates. Anyways, I’ve decided I want to try setting up a bird feeder to attract them, also to try to train them to eat out of my hand, here are some questions i would love to be answered please and thank you!!

1. What seeds are good? I heard Black sunflower seeds are good…
2. On the internet it said we have to feed them ‘suet’ or something, is it okay if I don’t?
3. Is it alright to feed them just for like..One winter and then stop? The person at the camp said it was okay but I don’t know..
4. What if squirrels come and take all the food and the poor chickadees can’t eat?
5. I don’t have many trees in my backyard, but is that still okay?
6. I heard that putting a nest box somewhere for them is good, if I do that and they reproduce and they teach their kids to come to me wont I Kind of be ‘Stuck with them forever’?
7. And also (continuation of Q.6) Won’t there be a huge amount of birds in my backyard if they keep on reproducing?
8. Do chickadees eat tomatoes, grapes, cherries, pears, vegetables, or apples by any chance? My dad will be furious if he finds his plants all pecked at.
9. Will doing this activity cut down a lot from my budget? I only get about $20.00 a month…. : S
