How do I heat my small aviary bird box?

I am building a small outside aviary for two pairs of celestial parrotlets that i hope to breed. I will be putting a 2ft x 1ft box in each aviary made from medium ply wood to house a budgie nesting box. Do I need to use a heat lamp aswell ? if so what wattage and is the box large enough so as not to over heat them.

My cockatiels laid eggs and one just hatched, what should I do? What if I want to hand feed the babies?

They are in a large nesting box and both parents are in there right now. I can hear the baby chirping and got a quick glance at it. It’s so tiny! There are still 6 eggs that need to hatch. I think the best thing I can do is to not disturb them much. I don’t want them to get nervous and hurt the baby or damage the other eggs. I mean, natural instinct will tell them what to do, right? When do you start hand feeding if you choose to? And how often do you feed them and do you need to keep a heat lamp on them? By the way, my birds cage is in our family room which is 65 degrees farenheit. That’s not too cold, is it? I figure the parents are keeping the eggs and the baby warm. Usually they take turns but since the baby hatched, they both have been in there most of the time. Are there certain foods that I should be giving them? I’ve been giving them cockatiel food, a special additive for nesting birds, egg biscuits, millet (which is their favorite!, a treat stick, and Cheerios.

i have 2 chicks. one is a rhode island red and the other is an ericana. they are 29 days old. theyre living out in our aviary with a box and a heat lamp that they can easily get to. theyre starting 2 get their feathers. im building them each a nesting box. my 2 q.s are 1) when do they start laying eggs? and 2) the store we bought them from said that theyre not sure they are all hens. at 29 days old, how do you tell if its a rooster or not? please give answers fast. (im more of a rodent person so i dont know much about birds)

How do I care for a baby bird?

While i was waiting for my mom to pick me up from youth group I found a baby bird with no feathers. It looked like it was recently hatched. I thought it was dead because it was on the steps on its back but when i touched it it moved. So I brought it home,(after i looked for the nest, not successful) and put it in a cardboard box on toilet paper under a heat lamp. That was Wednesday and it has now been 3 days and it is very frisky. I am feeding it small pieces of worms, but what else should i feed it? And what would b the best way to water it? From a syringe? Is there anything else i could do to help it grow and not die. I know baby birds are hard to hand raise and most die, but I wanna try. Please no mean comments or anything, only helpful tips. Thanks!
Rachael – it was getting dark and it is a tiny feather-less fledgling on concrete steps on its back. I doubt it’s mother was coming for it.
but don’t mothers feed them worms? And i can’t seem to find info on fledglings and what kind it is! :O
oops i meant hatching :)
do i use wet dog food or dry? is cat food alright to?

Found a featherless baby bird- what do i do?!?

My cat caught a baby bird in her mouth without actually biting it and I found it in my yard like an hour later and it was still breathing normally and everything but was obviously out of it’s nest. I have no idea where the nest is, and I cannot care for it by putting it under a box/heat lamp/etc. because I have 2 cats and do not have the necessary materials or time to care for it properly. Where can I take it? I don’t think it’s even opened it’s eyes yet and I have no idea what to do with the poor little thing. It’s currently in a small box with “nest” materials outside on my porch away from other cats and animals and bugs and it’s 85 degrees outside so it won’t freeze or anything. But where can I take it? Please help!
