What’s with this really weird hummingbird behavior?

To you bird people…i live in pennsylvania, and i have a hummingbird feeder. And while hummingbirds that feed on it usually hover, every once in awhile they’ll land on it for 20 or 30 seconds. Well, I noticed a couple weeks ago, one hummingbird when it lands, will do this thing where it sorta bobs its head from side to side…almost like someone listening to hip hop music might. I thought that particular hummingbird might just have some mental or physical problem, but then noticed the other day an entirely different hummingbird clearly doing the same thing. It’s this slow rythmic bobbing of the head back and forth when perched, they may do it 10 or 15 seconds at a time. Both that did it were males.
Is this a mating attractant? Does it deal with sugarwater digestion? Is it already a known behavior to hummingbird experts? I doubt I’ve made some behavioral discovery, but if nobody on here is familar with this behavior, I just might have!

Has anyone seen or heard of this behavior?

Question for bird people. (outdoor wild bird people)?

I’ll try to keep this short. I keep bird feeders and baths year around. I live in Western Kentucky. I saw a very pretty bird last year and didn’t know what it was as I had not seen one before so I looked it up. It was a Rose breasted Grosbeak and shown to migrate and spend summer months north of our area. I only saw it once so that looked about right, it was just passing through. This spring there are at least six pairs that have moved in to stay. I was thrilled about this, at first. Now they have completely taken over the feeders. Even when not feeding they post a guard and keep other birds away. Is any one familiar with this bird and might have some advice about how I could get my other birds coming back? The only bird they don’t seem to bother are the hummingbirds. Any advice would be appreciated.

Bees in my humming bird feeder, how do I prevent them and keep the hummingbirds?

I have tried making a sweeter feed mix 2 to 1 sugar water, in an another feeder and attracting the bees away, from the 4 to one hummingbird mix, (didn’t work) the bees just used both feeders, I tried spraying the bees and the feeder with soap and water, it chased the bees away for about 5 min but the soap migrates into the syrup and is not as attractive to the birds, The bees still come.

How do I get rid of the bees swarming my hummingbird feeder?

I don’t want to use something harmful to the birds but am wondering if anybody else has had this problem and solved it? The bees have taken over, covering every feeding hole on the feeder..The poor hummingbirds fly by, take one look, and leave. I used to have at least 10-15 that fed every day, all day. Help!
Yes, I realize WHY the bees like the feeder..I also realize that it’s probably NOT possible to prevent..but wanted to know if anybody did actually have any idea?
Yes-the bees are yellow jackets..Like berkut said I also like bees too, but I would like to have BOTH the birds and bees. :) Not just the bees… Thankyou everybody who actually had a helpful answer!

I just started feeding wild birds with a feeder in my yard.?

I’d like to try hummingbirds also, do they all get along? Watching these little birds, along with my cats sitting below the feeder watching the birds too, is too cute.
