I live in Missouri, and a Spotted Woodpecker has made a nest on the top of my back door, so i cant open it. It is against the law to disturb the bird while nesting, but i need to use that door because its the only way to get to my backyard, where i have my garden and stray cats that i feed. What should i do??? It’s pretty cool to wacth the bird make the nest and everything, but its getting in my way..lol

Sister in law just moved into a house, has a side patio that is shaded on 3 sides by several tall arbor vitae bushes, she has been putting bird seed in her feeders, and has been invaded by chipmunks. What can she do to keep them out of the bird food ? She is feeding seed mixes and suet . The chipmunks are eating it all.
Jean had the opportunity to chat with DNR biologist Lex Glover. Lex is with the Wildlife Diversity section and we talked about the special needs of birds in the winter. From feeders to food to water to shelter, well share with you some tips to keep your feathered friends from getting too frosty this season. —South Carolina Wildlife TV is an idea that had floated around for several years. There were many potential stories associated with SCDNR projects and outreach activities, and ultimately a plan bobbed to the surface in August of 2003. We had a clean slate from which to work. We decided the best approach would be something like a video version of South Carolina Wildlife magazine. So meetings were held, amused chuckles were traded and a format was chosen. We would build a show around two main stories, one field trip segment, and a short wrap-up piece that featured natural sounds and settings. Most importantly, we would hit the road and river and forest and anywhere else we could find South Carolinas special places. At last count, our tally includes just over one hundred shooting locations, about seventy guests, dozens of drive-thru cheeseburgers, four hosts and one upside-down truck (don’t ask). MILK OF COW FEED BY GRASS AND THE FARM FEEDED ARTIFICAL FOOD FEED COW GIVES MILK BOTH ARE HUGE DIFFERENCE. THE MEDICINE OF PLANT EATING COW IS PRECIOUS.THAN FARM FEEDED ONE. THE BOILER CHIECKEN FEED BY ARTIFICAL THINGS WITH NATURE WISE IN HOUSE GROWING AND EAT BY SELF MADE CHICKEN GIVES EGG IS WORTHY THAN FARM. THIS IS ONE POINT
NATURE BATTLE WITH GROW MAN IS HONEST THAN THE CITY LIFE GROWN MAN. NATURE LOW FOLLOW SPIRTUAL PERSONAL IS STRENGTHEN THAN ,THE FORMALITIES WITH GROWING PERSON . THE RIVER WATER IS BETTER THAN POND WATER, BECAUSE ITS NOT FLOW AND BUNDLE WITH KEEP BY HUMUM. . THE TREE GIVING SHELTER TO BIRDS IS STRONG AND SECURE THAN THE CONCREATE HOUSE AND ITS IF ANALYSE INSECURE TO IN EARTH QUKE OR ANY CALAMITY BY NATURE MOREOVER NATURE GIVING COOLWIND AND MAN MADE AIRCONDITION EFFECT IS NOT SUIT IF COMPARE THESE , BY OPEN AIR GIVE COOL WIND IS SUPER. THAN A/C WIND AND ITS NOT SIDE EFFECT TO ,
.THE MAIN IDOLGY THAT THE NATURE GIVE EVERYONE NECESSARY AIR TO BREATH, AND NOT ASKED WITH ITS, SHE SERVING WITHOUT SELFISHNESS , AND IF SHE SELFISH YOU NOT GET OR TAKE THE BREATH. AND NOT ASKED TO STORGE THE SAME,
TAKE IN FRESH AND OUT IN BAD AIR. THESE ALL ARE SHOWING NATURE IS THE GOOD SUPERPOWER AND TEACHER AND GOD TO. THEN WHY EVERYBODY MAKE HER WEEK. DID ANY ONE THINK OF IT. ALSO YOU CAN WATCH MANY THINGS AS GRACE CONTRIBUTE , BUT ITS NEVER MIND LIVE AND FAR FROM HER LOVE IS ALL THE PAIN AND ITS WOUNDS TO START END IN CANCER. THIS SIMPLE LOGIC LET IT FLOW WITH OUT DISTRUBENCE AND WITHOUT ANY WRITTEN RULE , IF NATURE DOING THE MAN WHY NOT ACCEPT THE MISTAKES, AND CORRECTED , AND CORRECTED ONE NOT APPRECIATED. IS IT EGO , IS IT LACK OF INSIGHT, IS IT WHAT , THIS CAN ANSWER WITH PLEASING AND THIS DEDICATION OF TRUTH HOW WILL , IF ITS OPEN MANNER CLEAR, AND EXPREIENCED THAT NATURE AGAINST ALL REACHED TO HELL. THE ANIMAL EVEN KNOWING , THE MAN IS NOT…….
I ran out of charactors. What I mean is without any kind of accountability what-so-ever? In Hawaii it is against the law to feed the pidgeons simply because during the high tourist season they would thrive and reproduce and then the low season would occur causing the young birds to die. Feeding the homeless is a noble undertaking but it does nothing to solve the problem. Without accountability or even basic case management the consumers drift back to the streets to await another free meal. One month of defense budget spending would go a long way to overworked sociologists.
FYI; I have an MSW and was Director of Operations for The Institute of Human Services, Safe Haven, Honolulu Clubhouse. Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator for Mental Help Hawaii, Youth Empowerment, BRIDGES, St. Vincent de Paul Free Dining Facility, Salvation Army Nu’uanu, Goodwill Iwelei for, Supervisory Mental Health Specialist for Fred Finch Youth Center, STARS Adolescent, Kahi Mohala Hospital……I deal with measurable progress.
I changed careers the first year I spent as a LCSW in Alameda County, California. Ten years in Social Work didn’t prepare me what I am seeing here.
