Is it illegal to shoot song birds in your garden in the UK?

I just found out that the teenage idiot next door has had a visit from the police on Friday because he has been shooting the birds in the garden. My wife feeds some blackbirds in our garden and we had noticed over the weekend that all but one of them had disappeared and the remaining one had an injured leg. Apparently the police did not recover the air rifle involved as the yobo Aaron denies possession of a weapon. I know his parents were on holiday last week and this may have happened whilst they were away. I have tried phoning them and knocking on the door but there is no answer even though I know they are at home. What would you do about this moron and what do you think the law says about it. I`m so mad I could strangle the whole ******* lot of them.

I have already written a few lines for the village magazine outlining what has happened.

Cat brought the bird back! HELP?

Okay, she brought the SAME chick back after I used your advice to let it go, this is 10 hours after I let it go. It’s now bleeding, it’s leg looks crippled etc. I’m going to try and feed it, but I’m really asking for help here, thanks!

Found a bird with broken leg?

This morining I was getting in my car and found a bird in the grass floppin around with ants all over him.So I brought him inside and got the ants off of him and made like a little nest out of hay and and got a cardboard box and put in inside of it then got a piece of cardboard and put it over the box like a roof.so he would have some shade,then gave him some water and wild bird food.I dont know what kind he is but he is small and black.I culdnt just leave him there so ants could eat him.So what else can I do to make sure he survives and his leg gets better?Thanks in advance.
Yeah It turned out he was a grey catbird,and he died,dont know how he was eating and even started flying a little bit off the ground.But then I walked outside for not even 5min.And when I came back he wasnt breathing anymore but his eyes where still open.But at least I tryed.Thanks everyone who ansered.

I found a bird that had its leg broken!! What should i feed it? I dont have worms lying around, only bird food

Would it eat it? Or no? It wont stop crying, and its mouth is always open, meaning that it is hungry. I understand that, but when i feed it bird food it eats it at first and then when i feed it again it closes its mouth and then it whines some more??!! What should i do??

How and what do you feed an injured bird?

I found a bird with it’s leg ran over in the street yesterday,and I took it home with me to nurse it back to heath(or fry it,just kidding)I put it in a box,and put holes in it so it can breath,but I don’t have any bird seed at the moment so what do I feed it untill I go get some and what exactly can I do for it’s leg besides take it to the vet?

Native Australian Birds???

I found a brown native bird outside my house and it broke its leg. i took it to the vet and they were gunna put it down and i said no and said i wuld look after it. I dunno what it eats and i put bird seed in and i dunno if its eating. what do i feed it?
