Male and Female Parakeets!?

I have had a male parakeet for 8 years now, and I recently got a new one last winter. I put them in their own cages because I thought after so long the male wouldn’t like having a new bird in his space. But I didn’t know that it was a girl! I thought it was taking a long time for the cere to change to blue, and when they finally got to interacting together yesterday, they started to ‘kiss’ each other and she put her tail up in the air and his pupils got really tiny! I tried to take him away but he hopped off of my finger back to her! Eventually he let me put him back in the cage. I can’t deal with any babies but I feel bad to separate them. I think they are bonded already now! I have never had more than one bird at a time. I would like to let them be together but I want to be pretty sure they won’t have babies. I read to not give or let them make a nest box….Had anyone had personal experience with this and what did you do? Also, I noticed that the female eats everything- the cuddle bone is almost gone in a few weeks, the grainy perch covers are eaten up, and she even eats the wood perch…I gave her the mineral block and she just pooped on it. Is there anything special I need to do for female parakeets? Thanks.

Female bird died with chicks?

My parakeets laid eggs awhile back and 3 hatched, the chicks are about 1 month old, today i found the female parakeet dead the male is feeding them but i’m NY sure if he feeds them as well as the female i need advise. And i’m wondering if i could put another female parakeet with them to feed the chicks. Right now the male is in the nest box with them. What should i do i’m really sad about the female but i’m also worried if the chicks will survive please help me

PLEASE HELP! Are these budgies ready to breed?

i’ve had a male and female budgie for over a year. Who i feel are clearly bonded because they always feed each other, preen, and the male is always singing to the female. Lately they have been flying around the cage more and when i play budgie sounds ( don’t want to get more budgies to encourage them) the male sings and gets excited. The male has been rubbing his head and beak to his favorite perch and the female as been knawing on it. I’ve been feeding them enriched bird seed with vegies mixed in. As well as fresh fruits, vegies, and crushed egg and of course a cuttle bone. I have a nesting box lightly dusted with aspen shaving as well as some aspen shavings in a container by a perch to encourage the female to put it in the box. I also have some baby bird hand feeding formula just in case. They are in my bathroom where they get a lot of light and the lest amount of interaction from us, my cat, and dogs as they will ever be able to get. I did have to move them there so i don’t know it that will of caused them stress and made them not breed is so how long until they do? I’ve done EVERYTHING to get them to breed and i’ve been trying for a week now. I’m not sure if they are “in season” I tried to get some pics but i couldn’t figure out how to get them up. So the male’s cere is a deep deep blue, while the females cere is crusty and darkish brown with white around the nostrils. I know that when the females cere is deep brown they are ready to breed but my female is also albino so that might change how it looks.
So i need to know if they are ready to breed and if what i’m doing is correct to help them breed. If there is anything else i can do to encourage them to breed it would help SO much!
PLEASE NO nonsense answers i’ve gone all over the interent and i really need some info. I know that they will breed in their own time but i want it to be as soon as possible. Thanks to those who answer!
They get plenty of noise in the bathroom because they are right by a window and can hear the birds outside.
Her cere has had white by the nostrils for about a week what does this mean? It doesn’t seem to be getting whiter but her entire cere is darker than it was a few weeks ago. PLEASE HELP i need info!
Yes i’m positve they are male and female and i’ve had them for over a year the males stipes on his head are gone.

Omg my female cockatiel bird just laid an egg on the floor?

I don’t really know what to do. I think it is fertilized because she is living in the same cage with a male. I just bought a nesting box and put the egg in there, did i do something wrong? And also i found it weird that my male cockatiel was the first to go into it.

Female budgie is chasing male out of nest box. Should I remove one of the parents?

I have two pairs of budgies in cages side by side, with a nest box in each of them. Both females laid no fewer than seven eggs. The first pair seem to be doing fine and getting the hang of feeding and protecting their young, and five of their babies have already hatched. The male is as crazy about the female as when they were mating, and she seems to relish the attention and care.

The second pair mated with mutual enthusiasm and the female seemed very willing and receptive. The male was very supportive to her and even helped set on the eggs. They now have four baby birds that have hatched. However, since the babies have started to hatch, it seems that the female has turned on the male. I watched him a couple of times with the babies, and I did not detect that he was too rough or anything; in fact, he would seek out their mouths to feed them. He has been very faithful in trying to feed his hen and their young. However, I have witnessed on probably several dozen occasions now how the female tries to keep him out of the box, or if he does get in, they seem to quarrel. I saw him “scolding” her a few times inside the box when she tried pecking him out, and he managed to hold his own at least for the time being. More often than not, though, all of a sudden I’ll hear “quarreling” followed by an angry screech and he exits that nest box like he’s been shot from a cannon. I can only surmise that she is giving him some nasty pecks.

I am concerned that he will get seriously hurt and that I should remove him for his own protection. But then, where does that leave the babies? I don’t want the babies to suffer for his absence. I’ve even wondered if I should remove the hen and let him care for the babies. It’s like all of a sudden mama bird can’t stand daddy bird, who seems very sweet and caring. Any constructive advice on this issue will be very welcome. Thanks in advance!

regarding breeding my parakeets…?

i have a bird that is about 5 years old(the male) and the female that is likely about a year and a half-2 years old. her cere is a crusty brown and his is a purple-ish blue, but she is aggressive toward him in the sense that if he gets too close she will try to peck at him. he tries to preen her and feed her and has in the past but i’m not sure if their bonded. i took the mirror and toys out of their cage, put millet spray, and a nesting box with pine shavings in it in the cage, but she hasn’t gone in it yet and its been a few days so i don’t know if that’s a bad sign or not.. the male sings to her a lot and chirps constantly, the temperature is right, but i can’t get them to eat anything but the millet spray and mixed seeds.. i’m not sure what to do or how long it takes for them to be interested in mating???? what do i doo??
he looks to be still into breeding its just the female im worried about. ive read a lot on the subject and it says its their own personal choice to breed and i dont know if she wants to.. so should i put the toys back in? and the mirror he was in love with..

I have some infertile eggs in my finches sleeping/nesting box.She has had nothing to do with them.?

For over a year she has used it as her sleeping nest.I put our male Canary into share the cage, soon after the eggs appeared, but i have been told that a Male Canary and a Female Zebra Finch would not mate and that the female Finch can lay eggs without a male bird?Is this correct and if so, should i keep them together?I have not seen them mating but they seem to get on ok together sharing the cage. What should i do with the eggs?
