How to help a wild cardinal?

Recently, we’ve had a wild male cardinal hopping around our back porch, singing away and trying to find a mate. The cats come around every once and a while, but the cardinal just flutters up to a higher part of the house, where the cats can’t get-to.

We’d like to keep the cardinal around, but not force it too. So, we were thinking of building a bird house just for the bird, and a bird feeder for him.

Anyways, the main question was, what should I use? Is there some kind of ‘do-it-yourself’ box kit bird house and feeder that he’d like? Or would a special design be necessary (completely willing to put one together myself)? We’d like to build the bird house so that, if he finds a mate, he and her can build a nice nest inside. Also, the bird feeder. Any special design? Anything specific he’d like? Also, the wood they’re made of. Is there any kind of wood he’d feel the most comfortable in?

Also, we feel kind of bad for him. He’s singing away for a new mate (we think either his first one died, or he is looking for a first) and so far, he’s the only cardinal we’ve seen around a place. The other birds are a few starlings and some red-chested robins. Do you have any ideas of how to help him so he finds a mate?

Should I put a nesting box in the cage with my female cockateil incase she needs to lay eggs?

I have a male and a female and they are under supervision and are not let to mate. Eggs are unfamiliar to me since I have always had male birds. She is my first female.

Nesting bird problem PLEASE help. I have no clue.?

My friend has a cannery who has a mate, and started laying eggs, but she kicked them out of the nest, this is before they got a mate for her, so to prevent nesting, when they did get her a mate, they removed the nesting box, but she has laid three eggs in her food dish.
And sitting on them. so they are probably fertilised.. im going to candle them next time i see them.
But how are they to prevent nesting in the future, with out taking away her mate, because she stresses now when they tried to separate them.
Also.. how they going to look after the chicks.
I have raised many birds before, but never seed eaters.
i usualy raise starlings, blackbirds, thrush. etc.
so my knowlege doest go to PET cannery’s. how will they raise them to be pet birds etc etc etc.
please help!
P.S I WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE TO ASK.
By ‘it’, do you mean your incredibly small, slightly bent to the right, penis?
Because if your were, i would gladly get an air gun and shoot ‘it’.

Will same sex love birds try to mate?

i have 2 love birds and i could swear there male and female. The one that i thought was the female seems to accually be a male, or well it takes on the male roll ( sex wise ) and the female the one that i thought was the male is gathering stuff and makeing a nest in the box. My girlfriend and i are worried that they may be the same sex and are just confused. We do have 6 parrotlets but those we know for sure of there sex’s, just we bought our love birds from the Pet shop and they didnt have any classification on what sex they were, the only thing they said was that the “Now” female kept breaking out of her cage to get to the “Now” male’s cage, is that a sign that there both opposite sex?

My Alexandrine has laid 2 eggs are they infertile?

I have a 5 yr old Alexandrine (f) who has a partner Shrek at 5 yrs (m) who i havent seen mate in/out the cage but did go in their nesting box many times… im not sure if they did anything… they are tame birds. Alex laid her first egg on Sunday nite/monday morning & her 2nd tonight (Wednesday). If she has two eggs does that mean they could be fertile? Or can she have a full clutch and none of them be fertile? I dont want to get too excited as it might not be possible. The reason why i have my doubts about the male is because he has no tail (he chews it off himself, has never grown very long but always trims it) he knows how to balance without his tail, i have noticed in the last 3 months they have been doing signals to one another (Alex shoving her bum in the air – bird kissing) but never seen him do his thing in/out side the cage… as i stated maybe in the nesting box they did something i cant be so sure… does this mean i have to wait 25-28days (incubation) to find out whether they will become baby birds?

mating parakeet conditions?

for one, im not sure if my one parakeet is a female, i think it may be because i saw the male on top of it, two, if it is a female i don’t have a nest box for it, what else could i use for a nest, three what are the right mating conditions for parakeets to mate?
p.s. just because two birds try to mate does it mean they have to be male+female or can it just mean that they are just trying to mate and they don’t realize that they are both males because im not sure if the one is male or female, the nostril is like a violet/pinkish color
