How do i know if my cockatiels are going to have chicks?

So i have two cockatiels and they’ve been acting a little strange. I keep hearing a mating call but when i go in to see, its quiet! I have a nest box set up for them just in case. The nest box is chewed on and a bird has entered, but the one entering and chewing is my “female”
i have no idea if i have and male and female or female and female or male and male! One is pied for sure but the other im not so sure on. He/she looks like a pearled but has no pearls on its belly. My pied has horizontal stripes (visible) on its tail but there is no notch in the feather. The other has notches but no visible horizontal stripes.
I’ve read up on breeding cockatiels and i know what to do if they do have chicks. But there is so much controversy on how to tell if they are going to have chicks and to tell which is for sure a male and which is for sure a female.
I know about the DNA testing to find the sex of a bird, but i cant afford that with the depression and all…
Please help me!

How do I stop my lovebird from laying soft shelled eggs?

I have a lovebird pair that’s been breeding for a few years without any problems until recently. Several months ago the female lovebird began to lay soft shelled eggs. My vet told me that she lacks calcium so I gave her calcium and vitamin D supplements, but she continued on laying soft shelled eggs. I took away her nesting box and tried to allow her to rest, but she continued on mating anyways and tearing up newspaper. I don’t really care if she is unable to rear chicks, I just want her to stop laying eggs and risking death from egg binding. I am trying to separate the pair, but they are very close and they would call to each other all the time and I really don’t like having to split the two up. Does anyone have tips on treating the problem of soft shelled eggs, or at least knows how to discourage a bird from laying eggs? Would a calcium shot help?

mating parakeet conditions?

for one, im not sure if my one parakeet is a female, i think it may be because i saw the male on top of it, two, if it is a female i don’t have a nest box for it, what else could i use for a nest, three what are the right mating conditions for parakeets to mate?
p.s. just because two birds try to mate does it mean they have to be male+female or can it just mean that they are just trying to mate and they don’t realize that they are both males because im not sure if the one is male or female, the nostril is like a violet/pinkish color

Parrotlet Breeding Questions?

I have a female and a male parrotlet, they are in the same cage. They have been “mating” for a while now and i put a nest box in the cage. She stayed in the box all night but theres no eggs. She keeps going in and out of the box and is very aggressive when i even go near her cage. Im positive shes pregnant(whatever you call it for birds) But shes not laying eggs! and shes been all crazy like this for almost a month. When will she lay eggs?

Also, some days she doesn’t even go in the box and other days shes in a lot.

Are my Cockatiel birds really mating?

Ok, so I bought what I was told was a pair- but then a pet store told me the females have very light colored cheeks. My “female” has dark cheeks. Anyhow, the “boy” sings to her all day and sometimes he mounts her. He is on her for what seems like forever and she is chirping loudly the whole time. Then he gets off and she chases him all over the cage and tries to bite him. They “mate” about 4-5 times a day, if not more. Usually he is the one in the nesting box, not her. No eggs have been laid and my husband insists that they are 2 boys, but why would the bird let himself is one and (2) wouldn’t the one who is always pretending to be the girl eventually want to be on top? My husband says maybe he wants to, that’s why he chases the other one around the cage. What do you guys think?

By the way, the “girl” is all grey with orange cheeks- the “boy” has a yellow head, orange cheeks and a grey body. The girl does seem smaller, in body than the boy.

how to breed rainbow lorrakeets in a indoor cage ?

I have a bonded pair doing all the displays and mating ( i think) they have a large nest box in there cage and they have the run of my living room for 7 to 9 hrs a day there on a varyed and balanced diet and they also have 17 diffrent birds let out at the same time in my living room ( 5budgies,2 red rumps,2 ring necks,3 cockatiels, princess parrarot ,galah, turtle dove, green cheek)
